Creating a new alias

I need to re-assign all of my xbox account details to my new email address. When I try to add a new alias it says "This email is part of a reserved domain. Please enter a different email address.". My new email address is registered with Microsoft, and I understand that I cannot add a Microsoft email address as an alias, so is there a different way around this?

I should add that I would like to avoid creating another email just for the purpose of re-assigning my alias if possible.

You see, if the email address that you're trying to add as a new alias, is already created, you will not be able to do that, because is already part of a domain, which means, is already another account.

A new Alias, is not another account, is just an alternative email address to the same account you currently have.

What you would have to do to add the new alias, is use an alternative email which is not been created yet.

I am sorry to hear about the account issues and your Xbox 360. Just to make sure that I understand you correctly, are you trying to remove your dad's email that is attached to your gamertag so that he can create a new gamertag? If this is correct then it
is possible to accomplish. Keep in mind if you remove your dad's alias, it will take 30 days before he can use that alias to create a new gamertag. Also, any balance that is associated with the alias you are removing is not transferable to the new alias
that you add/create. You can make these changes following the steps below.

Try these steps to change the alias on your account:

Sign into account.live.com with your current Microsoft Account.
Select Aliases on the left pane.
Under Account aliases click the button to Add alias.
Select the radio button for Create a new email address and add it as an alias.
Enter your desired username and click Add Alias.
After you create the new alias, you can remove the existing alias.
Once you have removed your dads alias, you can set the new alias as the primary.
Click account aliases.
Click make primary under the alias you want as your primary.

Thank you, I can advise you other things. Can be a bit odd but try adding a new alias to your Microsoft account

Once added, use this new alias to sign in (make sure to enable this new alias as an option to sign in) and create a new app password

Emiliano, can you try adding a new alias to your Microsoft account?

Go to Add an alias (https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/p/?linkid=864833). Sign in to your Microsoft account, if prompted.

Under Add an alias, select: Create a new Outlook.com email address and add it as an alias.

Select Add alias.

Once the new alias has been added, go to https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/p/?linkid=842796 and select the new alias as a way to sign-in

Then, try to download your profile on the Xbox 360 by using this new alias instead.
You may find helpful to try to use first the recently created app password instead of your regular password.

if you created a new microsoft email then that is basically a new microsoft account. you cannot transfer anything.

The Xbox account IS the Microsoft account IS the email address, they are one in the same.

you can create a new alias on the original account then make it primary then after a week or so remove the old email alias, just make sure to update any sites you need to keep with the new email alias.
