Crackling console audio when using a headset with the new Xbox Series X|S controller.

Hello, I have the following problem.

Just bought a new controller and noticed my headset would randomly begin crackling (static noises) when using it.

Notice that : Console and controller are updated. A temporary solution for me is to adjust the headset volume (in guide) to about 80% and then regulate the chat mixer. The "lowest" volume you can get this way is a bit high, but for some reason the bad sound quality dissapears over 80%.

From what I read this is a known problem, I could even read on microsoft website that an update was realeased to fix the problem :

    System Update Details:

    OS version released: RS_XBOX_RELEASE_2011\19041.5481.201117-2300

    Available: 4 p.m. PT – November 18, 2020

    Mandatory: 3 a.m. PT – November 19, 2020

Fixes to address crackling console audio when using a headset with the new Xbox Series X|S controller.

However my problem is still going.

What should I do to fix the problem ?

Since the controller is new, should I go and ask for a change, a new controller could fix the issue ?

    Thank you in advance,

    :)

Crackling popping and snapping in headsets when using xbox

Hello Payton L, My name is David. I am an independent advisor, happy to help you today.

If you're experiencing crackling, popping, or snapping sounds in your headsets when using your Xbox Series S, here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try:

    1. Ensure that the headset is properly connected to the Xbox controller. Make sure the headset cable is securely plugged into the controller and that there are no loose connections.

    2. Outdated controller firmware can sometimes cause audio issues. Connect your Xbox controller to your Xbox Series S using a USB cable and check for any available controller firmware updates. You can do this by navigating to the "Settings" menu, selecting "Devices & connections," and choosing "Accessories." Then, select your controller and look for any available firmware updates.

    3. Try restarting your Xbox Series S to refresh the system and potentially resolve any temporary issues. Press and hold the Xbox button on your controller to open the power menu, then select "Restart console." After the console restarts, check if the audio issues persist.

    4. Navigate to the Xbox Series S settings and make sure the audio settings are properly configured. Go to the "Settings" menu, select "General," then choose "Volume & audio output." Check the audio settings, including the volume levels, chat mixer, and spatial audio settings. You can try adjusting these settings to see if it improves the audio quality.

    5. If possible, try using a different Xbox controller and see if the audio issues persist. This can help determine if the problem is specific to the controller or if it's a broader issue with the Xbox Series S.

    6. Wireless interference can cause audio problems. Ensure that there are no wireless devices or other sources of interference near your Xbox Series S or the controller. Move away any devices that may be causing interference, such as routers, cordless phones, or other wireless devices.

Why is there a crackling audio after using xbox menu's

Hi and thanks for reaching out. I hope you’re doing well. I'm an Independent Advisor and a Microsoft user like you and I'll be happy to help you.

The crackling audio issue that you're experiencing on your Xbox Series S may be caused by a variety of factors, including interference, controller or headset firmware issues, or audio driver problems. Here are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue:

    1. Try moving the wireless controller closer to the console to reduce the possibility of interference.

    2. Update the firmware for both the controller and the headset. You can do this by connecting the controller and headset to the console with a USB cable and then checking for firmware updates in the settings menu.

    3. Check the audio settings in the game and on the console to ensure that they are set to the correct output format and that the volume levels are not too high.

    4. Try using a different headset or controller to see if the issue persists.

If the issue continues to persist after trying these troubleshooting steps, it may be possible that this is already a console issue.

Trying to get digital assistant to work but screen shows mic is turned off do I need a headset or is there one built in

Unfortunately, there is no built-in mic on the Xbox Series X and no bluetooth support if you're thinking to go that route.

You will need to attach a headset with a mic to the Xbox Series X controller. The Xbox Series X controller uses a standard 2.5mm audio connection for Xbox Live, you can use any standard headset. (It does not have to be something fancy or expensive.)

I hope this helps. Merry Christmas to all!

Did the xbox series controller works on xbox one fat?

Xbox Series X|S controllers are fully compatible with the Xbox One, One S and One X. Also the Xbox One controllers work on the new Series consoles.
