Country locked on US when trying to update payment info for free gold games!

The region of the account will need to match the region of the payment method for the region you're in. You can't use a German credit card to purchase items in the UK on the Xbox most likely due to exchange rates and so on.

Since you're in the UK now, you'll want to see about changing the region of your account which is different than changing the region of your Xbox.

Go to Xbox.com and sign in with your account

Click on your gamer tag and choose Xbox Settings

Click on Change 360 account region and set it to the UK. Note: You can only change the region of your account every 90 days so, if you've changed it already within the last 90 days you'll have to wait

After you change the region of your account you'll either want to add a UK based credit card to your account or buy UK currency to add to your Microsoft account to be able to make purchased in the UK on the Xbox

Also, you'll want to hard reset your xbox after those changes are complete. Hold down the power button on the front of the Xbox One for 15 seconds, then let go and restart the xbox

Keep in mind a lot f games wit gold is region locked so

If you get invalid payment you must update the payment method

Xbox 360 games are tend to be region locked and it requires you to be physically there to get it

Unlike using your actual country which would Garentee you can get al the games

Its a backwards compatible game battelfront 2. It says i have to add payment info to the gold channel. When i go to add it region locks me into the usa.

Otherwise you can try using paypal method as Australia is a supported country for this payment method.

As ngocphi stated Microsoft does not control region locks. It is managed by the international countries. Typically, Microsoft will offer substitutions for countries that have locks on those games so that you can still receive your free game. Rather than
searching for the specific game, try going through your console or the website by clicking on the Games with Gold to see if it redirects you to the local game available for you.
