    Could not invite the provided name


    My niece wanted to play Minecraft with my son (we live in different states) but when we send her an "invite" to our "Realms" world, we get an error message "Could not invite the provided name". I know ours works because we tested it by inviting famous Youtubers
    and their names came up properly, any idea why this message happens? She has a legit account, both playing on their laptops, we used the same version (current, 1.13 something).

    Could it be the settings on her account? I set our "settings" today, using the Microsoft Authenticator App on my cell (the most confusing and convoluted process of any game in history BTW), going back and forth between the Authenticator
    app on my cell, the email on my PC and the Microsoft website to make the settings accessible was ridiculous.

    The signal provided by a cheap, no name brand HDMI cable is the same as what's provided by a few hundred dollar cable; there's no reason not to by a cheap cable.

    Got new update preview - Cant join party with people without it.

    I thought people in the programme could invite people to it and xbox support point me this way to try and ask someone to put my name forward

    Could not invite the provided name

    It might be the Privacy and Online Saftey settings for her account. Those settings can be found through the steps here: Xbox One online safety and privacy settings They cover how to get there on an Xbox console or the Xbox website.


    If she is a child account, then she would need an Adult account in her family to make the change on her account, or be added to a family and then have the adult make the account.

    Another issue might be the username itself: Can't invite provided name? : realms Could be case-sensitive, or if it's one word or two.

    Let me know if those don't resolve your issue.

    Minecraft Realms, "Can't invite the provided name."

    Does your grandson have a Gold subscription? As it is needed to be able to play online.

    If he has a child account then the parent account will need to change the settings to allow for online gaming.

    It's funny that you complain about not being invited to the beta and that you have "friends" that were. My brother received an invite and in the email it said that he could have a friend receive one as well. So if your friends are real friends they could
    have put your name in for being a participant.
