"Could not download EA Desktop" even though I already have it. - Xbox Game Pass on PC EA Play

Since release I haven't been able to download any EA Play games through Game Pass for PC.

It just says "Could not download EA Desktop" even though I already have it downloaded.

I even tried re-installing again. Still nothing.

Any help would be great. Thanks! <3

Keep in mind not all xbox regions are supported by gamepass

as long as its the new ea desktop beta app then it should work, i have actually got rif od it all as it is glitchy, and a complete waste of time.

none of the ea games for gamepass pc support acheivements, constant gme freezing, having to deal with xbox app and ea desktop constantly.

i just bought ea play with steam for £20 for the year, you download the games within steam, majority support steam cheevos and trading cards and when starting the games automatically call the origin app quickly and non intrusively.

This is an issue that anyone with "User Account Controls" turned off will get (and something that Microsoft does a terrible job telling people about). When it's turned off it, apparently, causes the "Game Pass" app to be unable to spawn or connect to the "EA Desktop" app.

If you don't know how to turn it on, go to the search function in Windows 10, type "UAC", click the link and slide the option up. I slide mine to the top, though it would probably work with any choice that isn't fully off.

If you had a previous account linking and it doesnt say "EA play with game pass" under settings-> my account -> my membership in EA Desktop app then I suggest

- Clicking Manage from the settings in EA Desktop app to go to the EA customer portal website and under Connections disconnect the xbox account

- Then log out of EA Desktop and exit both apps

- Then install a EA game from xbox app

It will log you into EA Desktop and link accounts giving "EA play with game pass" membership and start downloading from EA Desktop app

Note it says you can only ever link one xbox account to your EA account
