Corroded Xbox one controller

Let me begin by saying that the following IS NOT endorsed by Microsoft and I cannot warrant any damage that may be caused to the controller through this process.

It sounds to me like battery corrosion which is a pretty common problem in any consumer electronic device that uses batteries.

if they leaked then this would have corroded the battery terminals on the controller, scraping them clean so metal is exposed with fix the issue.

Acrually.. The SAME thing happened to me.. I tried everything but nothing is working.. My corrosion was really bad... But maybe yours isn't.. So try these maybe it will work

*use white vinegar or apple cider vinegar and a q-tip and rub gently on the place of the corrosion

*mix baking soda and water and get a q-tip and do the same

*take a tooth brush (preferably an old one) and dip it in vinegar and scrub on the corroded area

*take some cloth and put a medium amount of vinegar on it.. (Wet but not leaking wet) and rap it around or place on the corroded area and leave for 5 hours or more... After the required timing remove the cloth from the area you placed it and take a towel
or a brush and easily clean the corroded area..

*if it got corroded before the warranty time which is 90 days after you bought it, than you can exchange your controller for a new one for free

Thanks for reaching out to us in the forums for this question. When it comes to your controller no longer being functional and you've already exhausted the troubleshooting for the Xbox One controller using the Xbox
One Wireless Controller Solution then you would need to replace the controller if it is beyond the 90 day warranty.

You did mention that there had been battery corrosion in the battery compartment and, insofar as electronics, its possible that the acidity of the battery may have further corroded into the controller case itself and caused damage, or to the posts and the
controller can no longer function correctly unless wired. Either scenario would require a replacement to the controller; however, it is difficult to say that these are the causes, or what the cause may be.
