  1. Controlling your TV with the Xbox One X

I have always used the setting for turning on and off my TV simultaneously to my console on my original Xbox one. i.e. Turn on my Xbox and tv turns on too; turn off my Xbox and tv turns off too.

Recently I upgraded to the new Xbox One X; it's amazingly fast and better in many ways. However even though I have the settings on the new console set up the same way as the old one. My Xbox no longer controls my tv for me. I have
been messing with the settings all day and trying everything, so far nothing works. I've even contacted xbox support ovet the phone, I spoke with a woman for over 30 minutes to no avail! I was told there was, "no known issue" and led here for guidance. Anyone
else have this issue? Please help!

    :)

Would you have chosen the xbox if it didn't have the tv features

If the xbox one didn't have the new tv features like controlling your tv with voice commands, would you still have chosen the xbox over the ps4?

  4. Controlling your TV with the Xbox One X

The Xbox One X has an IR-emitter built into the front of the console (near the disc eject button), or it can use the Kinect. If either device is being obstructed by any objects, or not in a position where the IR light might not reach
the TV, the signal may not work.

    If you used a
    separate IR-emitter
with your original Xbox One, you can try using that with the Xbox One X. If you used a Kinect to control your TV, you will need to get a

    Kinect adapter
in order to plug it into the Xbox One X.

  5. You've just made me so happy! I had set something in front of the Xbox one and it blocked it communications to the tv! Thanks so much! You are seriously the best!

    A/V power options

Do you have an original Xbox One, or a Xbox One S/X? If you have the original Xbox One (not the S or X) you will need to have Kinect in order to have the Xbox control your A/V equipment.

If you do have Kinect and/or a Xbox One S/X, make sure that the IR Blaster on the Kinect and the console aren't obstructed, and that the IR light can hit your equipment. If you have a home theater with dark walls, it might be that the IR signal can't be
reflected off the walls towards the A/V equipment.

And finally: The TV needs to be able to be controlled via Infrared remote controls. If you have a very modern TV with a Bluetooth remote, the Xbox can't control that. It has to be Infrared controlled.

Sony XBR-65X900E and Klipsch RSB-6 with Xbox One X

Have you ever configured your Xbox One to
    control your soundbar with IR
? The Xbox One X has a built-in IR emitter, so it could possibly be toggling the soundbar power.
