    Controllers' xinputhid driver failed to load on Windows 7 after KB4284826 updated


    After security update KB4284826 for windows 7, controllers connected through WIRELESS ADAPTER still shown in joy.cpl, however, arent recognized by most of games, including Steam.

    It is reported in device manager that digital signature of "xinput compatible hid device" driver cant be verified, and failed to load. Things go back well after removing this update.

    About 10 same cases are reported in Steam community recently.

    XBox One Elite controller not recognised by Windows 7

    Heya!

    As valoryea mentioned Windows 7 and the new controllers may have issues without that driver. We would mostly recommend using Windows 10 with the controllers as Windows 10 is designed to be compatible with them and Windows 7 is not.

    As Windows 7 is not fully compatible with the controller you may run into issues even with the drivers installed.

    We do wish you the best with that though.

    If you run into issues even after you have upgraded to Windows 10 do let us know!

    Windows 10: Unable to detect Xbox one wireless controllers through USB

    Hi

    Previously using PS3 controllers connecting through SCPtoolkit.

    Decided to change and purchased Xbox one controllers however after several tries windows still unable to detect controllers.

    Suspected missing drivers.

    Tried a few troubleshoot methods but failed:

    Update windows

    Plug in and out

    Swopping USB cables

    Your help is appreciated.

    My xbox one controller wont connect to my pc

    (After doing some experimenting the only thing i found (on windows 7 so I HOPE this would work for you too) is to click the thing that says "stop looking for drivers via windows update" when it's looking for the controller's drivers during the first run.
    For some reason it will find your self installed driver really quickly after that. Good luck!)

    Make sure your controller is update as per: https://support.xbox.com/en-IE/xbox-one/accessories/update-controller-for-stereo-headset-adapter

    Update the Xbox Controller drivers as per "Windows 8.1 and Windows 7" section of: https://support.xbox.com/en-IE/xbox-on-windows/accessories/connect-xbox-one-controller-to-pc

    I uninstalled my xbox driver for win 7 (It was not for win 10 see your post to fix this ) and i let windows update to reinstall the latest driver.

    After that if i execute joy.cpl , my xbox controller is not detect.
