    I have 8 xbox one controllers. 4 from the launch and 4 from the one s time frame. I updated 3 of my one S controllers on 3 different XBox’s and now they only wirk when plugged in. 1 controller had rechargabke batteries and 2 are using disposables. This
    is nonsense. I have done all the troubleshooting steps that remotely relate to this issue to include factory reaetting everything. Now I have 4 XBox’s downloading everything back to them which is going to take forever not to mention completely bottle necking
    my internet and 3 controllers that still will only work plugged in. I am being told the mother boards are bad. If that is the case then Microsofts ipdate bricked my controllers. I need this resolved now.

    The controller is updated. The weird thing is it was working one minute then slowly would only work for a minute or two after being plug in and just less and less time it would work.

    That didn't fix it, however I noticed my clips lacking audio (only with Game DVR while Turtle Beach X07s where plugged in) as well after the recent update, my fix that worked today...plug in controller, remove batteries (I tried with batteries and it failed),
    update controller again and now it works for everything. Hope it works for others! ( I also cleared persistent storage but I doubt that did it.

    If your Xbox one Controller doesn't work or gets disconnected after you plug in your Stereo Headset Adapter, unplug your adapter,
    and then update your controller without the adapter. After the controller is updated, insert your Stereo Headset Adapter back into the controller.

    I'm Samy an independent advisor. Welcome to the Xbox community. How are you?

    Press and hold your console's power button until the console turns off, remove the power cord for a few minutes.

    On your controller press and hold the Xbox button until the console turns off and remove the batteries for a few minutes.

    After a few minutes plug the power cord into your console again, put the batteries in your controller, turn on the console, plug your headset into the controller and try again.

    If that doesn't work, open Skype and in settings see if any sound is detected in the audio test.

    I think the problem may be in your controller, probably the controller jack is defective. You can order a replacement if you purchased the controller within 90 days.
