Controller wont pair to xbox or pc will vibrate after a couple of seconds in pairing mode

try this, worked for me (no one at microsoft could help, just gave me the run around).

if your already on the latest firmware for console & device.

go to settings, console & reset console, then chose keep games, itll then kinda do a hard reboot, takes about 10 mins.

you will need to log back into your account, but all your games will still be there.

hope it helps, it worked for me.

UPDATE - then a February update came out & did the same thing AGAIN. but this time, all the work arounds dont work, well done Microsoft, your update made a known problem even worse!

Is send it back under warranty, but THAT doesnt work either...... you cant do it online via the form, and when talking to live chat, they cant and quickly hang up on you!

To unpair it, press and hold the pair button on top of the controller for a few seconds until it vibrates twice.

Then, pair it again.

Turn on your controller by pressing and holding the Xbox button.

Press and release the Pair button on the Xbox.

Within 20 seconds, press and hold the controller’s Pair button (a circular button on top of the controller as you hold it in your hands) until the controller's Xbox button flashes a few times.

That means it's searching for a console.

The Xbox button stays lit once it's connected

To the OPs problem for no sound and no vibration that should be fixed with the latest driver updates.

For pairing, how are you pairing the controller? I have mentioned this on other posts, one easy alternate way to pair is to have your controller connected wired to the PC, plug in the Wireless Adapter to the PC as well, wait like 5 seconds, and unplug the
controller, the driver stack will automatically have paired the controller to the adapter, just like on the Xbox.

Once you pair the controller successfully and never use that controller for any other PC or Xbox, then the address of the adapter is saved in the controller. Repairing to the same adapter is not required. If it is not connecting, plug/unplug the adapter
instead to reset the adapter.

What you are seeing with the LEDs is an indication that the Xbox 360 Explorer controller is entering pairing mode, not working mode. In order for the controller to function on your PC, you must first pair it with the Xbox 360 Wireless Adapter.

Steps to pair the controller with the wireless adapter:

Connect the wireless adapter: Connect the Xbox 360 Wireless Adapter to a USB port on your PC.

Press the pairing button on the adapter: On the wireless adapter, there is a small button (usually near the USB port). Press and hold this button for a few seconds. The LED on the adapter should start blinking.

Turn on the controller: Press the Xbox button in the center of the controller to turn it on.
