    Hi. I use my controller sometimes on my laptop to game. When I'm done with it and unplug it from my laptop. The controller automatically turns my Series X on. Quite the annoyance as I then have to go and turn it off.

    Can the controllers be updated so that the next time I unplug the cable from my laptop to the controller. The controller won't attempt to connect and turn my Series X on.

    Yes, this is a little annoying to me as well. I purchased an Xbox One controller to use with my PC, and the light is super annoying when plugged in. When I unplugged it from the USB cable, it flashed for a bit, but then stopped. I wonder if there's any
    way to turn off the controller when it's unplugged from USB and on battery? Or does it automatically sleep when not connected to an Xbox system or PC?

    Update. Controller stops working when I unplug it from charging with the xbox too.

    Pulled the battery from the back of the controller and re-turned on.

    Still nothing.

    Ok, so the problem is solved now. Here are the steps I followed.

    - Uninstalled Xbox Accesories App

    - Uninstalled all Driver in the Device Manager related to "Xbox Controller" and "Xbox Wireless Adapter"

    - Unplugged the Wireless Adapter

    - Turn off Bluetooth

    - Turn off the PC

    - Reset the Xbox Series Controller pairing (Hold connect button for x seconds)

    - Turn off Xbox Series Controller

    - Boot the PC

    - Insert the Wireless Adapter -> Drivers are installed automatically

    - Turn on Xbox Series controller

    - Succesfully paired with the Wireless Adapter!!

    - Install Xbox Accesories App -> Controller recognized :)

    - Turn on Bluetooth

    Thanks for the answer, Kathy and sorry for the delay but life prevented me from answering earlier.

    The fact that running a simple troubleshooting routine solved it points at a software issue so I don´t expect to have this problem again.

    Hope this helps someone.

    Hey, everyone.

    I wanna share with you what worked for me.

    I tried everything.

    It turns out that if you have a second or even multiple controllers connected (mine was a single-wired second controller in the front USB slot) then this bug will occur.

    Unplugging that controller fixed everything for me, no joke.

    I even plugged it back in and found the same bug occurred each time but so would the solution every time I unplugged it.

    Hope this works for someone because I looked this up for days without an answer until I tried this.
