    Controller out of warranty, but not a wear and tear issue?


    Does Microsoft offer any sort of device protection outside of warranty if it’s not a wear and tear issue?

    I have a series x controller just over the 90 days and the left joystick started to stop registering completely. I went to device testing on my Xbox and the up and down motions don’t pick up often enough to indicate no problem, with down not registering almost 70% of the time.

    The kicker is that I don’t even pull my joystick down often. I haven’t dropped my controller ever, and realistically there is nothing wrong other than that. There is 0 joystick drift, it’s a registration issue.

    Any tips?

    Only Elite 2 controllers can be shipped to Microsoft out of warranty and paying a fee for repair. In your case, I would take it to a local shop for repair.

    Console that keeps having a reocurring problem and microsoft wont fix it without charging us.

    first and foremost

    wear and tear is not a lemon nor does lemon laws apply

    a dvd drive can wear out with continuous use that is UPTO the consumer to purchase a extended warranty

    disk read errors are normal wear and tear not an manufacturing defect that is basic physics

    if you use your car 100x a day and eventually your car will get tired and worn out and beyond the manufacturer's warranty

    that is wear and tear



    1 year is more then enough for an electronic less then 1000dollars

    a ps3 and wii also have a 1 year warranty and will not cover a wear and tear unless paid for

    suggestion when you buy a electronics worth hundreds of dollars buy an warranty

    Sometimes this happens to controllers with general wear and tear unfortunately.

    If you believe it is an issue with the software of your current controller and it is under warranty I would suggest sending it in for repairs.

    One year old Xbox One X controller has drift on right stick and excessive battery use.

    Controllers come with a limited 90 day warranty, General wear and tear is natural and depending on the users game play or habits they can wear out earlier. All you can do is request a repair or buy a new one at this stage.

    Unfortunately stick drift is common with all controllers form all platforms and occurs due to wear and tear.

    The only way of fixing that issue is replacing/warrantying the controller or replacing the thumbstick sensors in the control yourself (requires good soldering skills)
