controller not working when trying to open game

In case the issue still persists, the next step would be to perform a reset on the console. To do so you will need to follow the steps below to perform a reset on the Xbox :

Settings > System > Console Info > Reset This Xbox > Reset and Keep my Games and Apps.

Note =>The "Reset and Keep my Games and Apps" option will not cause losing your games, but please be aware that you need to be completely aware of the email address as well as the password of your account before going for it because it will require you to sign in to the account.

The last option would be for you to try and request a replacement for your controller from the microsoft website online.

What operating system are you using?

When you open the control panel (use the "classic" control panel on Windows 10, not the "modern" settings app with the cogwheel/gear icon), type "game" into the search panel in the upper right of the control panel window.

It should show you the game controller settings in the search results. Open the game controller settings, and test the controller under the testing tab.

If the controller moves the cross around, the "lights" go on when you press the buttons, and the D-Pad moves the POV circle around, then the controller is working.

You can then try to troubleshoot why Steam is not detecting the controller.

Try to open the game with your console in offline mode If your profile is set as home console. If It works its a problem when You try to open the game when you're online

Thank you for your response here are the attempts of myself performing your suggestions.

1. The controller is fully updated through the Xbox Accessories app, I do not know what you mean by repairing the controller to the PC.

2. The controller works through both wired and wireless and I can navigate through the menu perfectly fine but when I open a game on the Cloud gaming app it does not work, It does work on installed games, however.

3. I noticed that the controller did not work within the cloud gaming app is the first time trying to open any games within the cloud gaming app. I attempted to play through the browser Xbox website cloud gaming app and this worked perfectly fine.

4. It has never worked on the Xbox app Cloud gaming but it works perfectly on the browser Xbox cloud gaming website.

Hopefully, a fix can be found for this.

The controller is connected, and will turn the console on without being plugged in. But the function is not working properly. When I try to use controller for anything, it lags a bit and typically will have that error code I mentioned pop up. When I press
the button on the controller to open up the guide, the screen just dims down and nothing will show.
