According to your description, your problem is that the controller is not working in the game.



Is your controller turning on and pairing properly?



First you need to check first:

Check the batteries: replace the controller batteries with fresh ones, or make sure the rechargeable controller is fully charged. (Do this even if your controller is still charged - a low battery can cause problems with connectivity and functionality.)



Powering Down to Restart the Controller Press and hold the Xbox button  for 5-10 seconds until the controller shuts down. Wait a few seconds, then press the Xbox button  again to turn the controller back on.



Your attempt can be fixed by troubleshooting the error and following the steps below:

1. Power off and restart the console by pressing and holding the Xbox button  on the front of the console for approximately 10 seconds. Unplug the console's power cord for 30 seconds after the console is powered off, then plug the console's power cord back in. Press the Xbox button  to reboot the main unit.



2. If the controller does not connect to the console after a power failure and reboot, try connecting the controller directly to the console using a USB-C cable (or USB to micro USB cable for Xbox One controllers). Be sure to use a cable that supports data transfer.

If the controller operates correctly through the cable connection, continue to the next step.

If the controller does not function when connected using the USB cable, double check that the problem is not with the cable or port - try connecting with a different cable/port or connecting to a different device. If you have verified that there is no problem with the cable or port, but the controller still does not run when connected, you will need to replace the controller (go to "Replacing the Controller" below).



3. Update the controller firmware. This can be done on the host computer by pressing Xbox  to open the guide and then selecting Profile & System > Settings > Devices & Connections "> Controllers and Headsets. Select "..." under the controller you are troubleshooting to check the firmware status. If you are unable to update the controller, go to "Other Troubleshooting" below.

It still doesn't work. On my rog ally it doesn't update and it stay on updating with 0% progress

You should be able to get your free Game Pass trial by opening the Microsoft Store.

Open the Store and select “Library” in the bottom-left corner. Click on “Included with this device”, and you should be able to claim the free trial.

Having same problem on brand new Asus ROG Ally. Typing this now with no internet problems but will not start cloud streaming games.

at this time there is no indication that would happen

you could play them through cloud gaming, but these games cannot function natively on a PC which is what this is.
