Controller keeps double pressing with buttons and joystick

I have a controller about 10 months old and I haven’t run into any problems except this one. When I push my joystick a direction, almost every time it will go twice. The same goes for the d-pad and abxy buttons. I have gone to Xbox accessories and tested my buttons and none are sticky. This is starting to bug me and I’m not sure if I should get a new controller.

    :)

Controller keeps double pressing with buttons and joystick

I’ve tried on a few games and I notice my sensitivity feels different from last time, I don’t know if that means anything. I notice it a lot more when I am on YouTube or other video streaming apps. Sometimes the bar won’t disappear when I press B, or when I push my joystick up. I have tried to uninstall the Xbox accessories app, but I don’t get the option to uninstall. Should I buy a new controller?

Hi there Angry welcome to the community forum! Christopher here, an Xbox fan just like you and has been on Xbox for years already. I would really love to make your day by helping you out. Have you tried uninstalling and installing the accessories app? Also, does this happen on all games?

    Xbox controller turning off

It will keep automatically turning off after a few minutes of inactivity, even if you are charging it. The only way to keep it active is to press buttons periodically. I have heard of people putting something on the controller to push the joystick up or
to hold a button down to make the character keep walking or moving or jumping. This will keep the controller active, but if you try it, just be mindful that you don't cause any permanent damage to the controller.

    Controller keeps pressing buttons

Does the problem also occur when connecting the controller to other devices?

You could test it on a console, PC or smartphone.
