Controller Internal Battery or AA

Will Xbox 1 controllers hold an internal charge or do they just work off the AA batteries? We have the original and a Phantom controller and neither seem to hold any charge.

Well there is AA battery packs so either or

. both works fine. I prefer battery though due to the battery packs only have so many charges.

Hello AOBrody,

The USB port can be used for charging, but only when using the
Play and Charge kit as stated above. Without the play and charge battery in the controller, the usb port would only power the controller.

the kit play and charge is very useful. Also you can use rechargeable batteries, and others use a micro usb cable
