Controller has the steady white light but won’t connect to the Xbox wired or wireless

    Hello Mustafaali5

Hope you are doing well today!

You mentioned that you are 20m away from the console. It seems like the issue here is the connection of controller to your console which I think there are things that might interfere that is why it keep on disconnecting. I can provide you additional methods to possibly correct the issue. You may access the link below.

Click here: Troubleshoot your Xbox Wireless Controller | Xbox Support

If the issue will occur right after following the steps below. I would suggest to come closer to the console to have a steady connection. Making sure that you a direct connection and avoid you from disconnecting again.

    Hope you understand.

Controller has the steady white light but won’t connect to the Xbox wired or wireless

    Hello Mustafaali5

    Good Day!

Thank you so much for the immediate response. Highly appreciated.

You mentioned that you brought the controller with you to the kitchen, how far are you from the console?

According to the Xbox website, the range for wireless controllers is 19-28 ft (6-9 m), but things like walls and interference from other wireless devices can reduce the range. If there are things that might interfering to the connection, you might need to remove them.

    We await your response.

Controller has the steady white light but won’t connect to the Xbox wired or wireless

    Hello Mustafaali5

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

I understand that you have an issue connecting your controller to your Xbox console. Let’s work together in finding the best resolution to this issue.

For me to better understand the issue, I’d like to ask a few questions:

    • Is this working before?
    • When was the issue started?
    • What are the recent activity you have made that might cause the issue?
    • What are the steps you have taken so far to fix the problem?
I made research and went to Xbox website to gather information about this issue. I found some ways or steps to fix the issue. The methods are as follows:

Method A. Power Cycle your console

    • Move closer to your Xbox. The range for wireless controllers is 19-28 ft (6-9 m), but things like walls and interference from other wireless devices can reduce the range.
    • Remove objects between your controller and Xbox. Check the space between you and the Xbox for things that might interfere with your controller’s wireless signal.
Method B. Check the battery of your controller

    Method C. Update your controller

    • Press the Xbox button  to open the guide.
    • Under Profile & system, select Settings.
    • Under Devices & connections, select Accessories.
    • On the Xbox Wireless Controller screen, select “…” to check the firmware version for your controller.
    • If it says there’s no update available, your controller is current. If it says “Update,” follow the steps provided.
    • Once your controller is updated, disconnect the USB cable and try connecting wirelessly again.
Let us know the result and we will get back to you as soon as we can.

We look forward to your response.

Controller has the steady white light but won’t connect to the Xbox wired or wireless

    Hello Mustafaali5

    Good Day!

In that case, you may need to to make sure to turn off all the devices that are capable of Bluetooth connection. In order to make sure that the controller will only connect to the console directly without connecting it to the other devices.

    Regards
