    Controller gone haywire

So I bought a brand new wireless Xbox one controller for my birthday 9 days ago. 65 dollar one and not a knock off. Working terrific until today when I fell asleep watching Netflix, I woke up and turned the controller back on and it won’t do anything but
scroll right on dashboard and stop at store. It won’t go back to home screen without automatically going back right to the store. 9 days old so it’s not a worn out toggle or all the other typical problems, like food or junk in the buttons. Help... I’m back
to using my knockoff wired controller and it doesn’t do this but I wanted a real Xbox wireless and this is what I got.

    Bummed...

    :)

Maybe you can borrow a friends controller to eliminate the possibility that it is your controller. I myself never had the problem with this game. It does sound like your controller has gone haywire to me though.

    Hi there,

please try the manual power cycle steps like mentioned on the following link, be sure to wait at least 60 seconds and then disconnect the console from power for another 30 seconds, reconnect after that and powering on again:
Restart or Power Cycle Xbox One Console

If the controller is still doing the same after these steps then you need to contact Xbox Support to see what they advise and if needed they help you set up a replacement for that controller.

If it's 9 days old it should still be within warranty and this shouldn't be happening.

    Let us know the results

  5. Hi there schwan808, thanks for reaching out and we're sorry to hear about the frustrating experience with your Xbox One wireless controller.

In addition to what WPAK suggested, you may have success in trying the

The first thing you might want to try is a
    power cycle
. This can clear up any corrupt system cache that can cause unusual system behavior.

    You can also try
    removing your account
from the Xbox, and re-downloading it. That helps some general problems as well.
