    controller fault or xbox fault?

    Hi All

I had an issue with a One X earlier this year where it died on me. I was able to get a refund on it and replaced it with an One X White.

When i started playing, i noticed I had an issue with some of the buttons on the controller not responding. It was most obvious on the A button.

This would take forms of not being able to vault over walls in battlefield, not being able to run in GTA, passing in FIFA etc. It's impact varied with sometimes it being worse than others. I took the controller back to the shop and they replaced it for me.

It seems that since the replacement the problem hasn't fixed itself, and has once again become an annoyance so I am looking for advice on what it could be.

I've tried resyncing the controller to the xbox - nope

Tired resetting the xbox to factory - nope

tried updating the xbox and controller - none available

Oddly, it seems to be less of an issue, if an issue at all if it is plugged in via cable.

Have I just by some dumb luck got a second controller with the same issue as the first one, or is there a chance i could have a second duff xbox console? I can of course return the console as it is only several months old, but i'd rather not have to go to
    the effort of doing it.

I am going to borrow another controller to see if its a continuous option, but any other suggestions i could try would be helpful. thanks

    :)

Controllers come with a limited 90 day warranty so you may be able to exchange or repair it. If you've exhausted all other troubleshooting options (which it seems like you have) I would go that route

    Fault

It sounds like the booting process maybe stuck, possibly due to an interrupted download.

Here are some of the possible fixes, failing that it may need repairing.

Try performing a hard reset EXACTLY like this. Hold the power button on the console for 8 seconds or until the power shuts down completely. Unplug the power cord from the back of the console for 5 minutes.
Plug the power cord back in and restart the console.

As you have done everything as far as factory reset, even the offline update,
you would need a repair at this point.

There are two ways you can set up a repair:

When you go to Contact Us to get it to request a callback follow these steps:

    • Step 1 ----select Xbox One
    • Step 2 ----select no thanks
    • Step 3-----select games
    • Step 4 ----select request a call from support

Try everything. Also offline update. Another thing you can try:

    1. If there's a disc in the Xbox One console, eject it.
    2. On the console, press and hold the Xbox button
for 10 seconds to turn off the console.
    3. Press and hold the Xbox button
and the Eject button until you hear a beep to turn on the console. You’ll hear one beep right away and a second beep 10 seconds later. The power light will flash on before the second beep. DO NOT LET GO until the second beep occurs.

Note If you have an Xbox One S All-Digital Edition, you’ll need to press and hold the
Xbox button and the Bind button instead, as your console does not have an
      Eject button.

In either case, this will boot your console in troubleshoot mode. Restart it.
