Are you using the one with the dock?

Does the dock hold/charger the controller with their battery inside? Or does the dock only hold/charge their battery?

The dock takes the input current and passes it on to the controller, put simply, it just adds an extra step into the charging process, saving you from plugging in/unplugging a cable to your controller. Electrically the same principles apply, you'll
need to match the voltages!

If you don't mind me asking, how do you know that the dock simply passes the current and voltage as is to the controller without? I would think that it brings down the voltage and current to the output voltage and current printed on the back of the dock
which is 5V and 0.55A.

Why would they print out said voltage and current on the back if all it does it pass the voltage/current through?

Also if you notice, the current printed on the dock is 0.55A compared to the current printed on the controller which is 0.48A. I think that confirms that the amperage on the back of the dock is not a reference to the controller's amperage but it really does
specify the amperage that the dock outputs.

The Xbox One and Xbox One S controllers should be able to be used with docking stations. They use the same type of USB input and the controller is the same size and form factor. You shouldn't have any issue using a dock with the controllers.

A charging dock is included with the Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2. Plug the USB-C cable into the back of the dock and then plug the other end into your console or PC. Once the dock is connected, gently place the controller onto it to begin charging.

I see, thanks again. What if I plug my phone wall charger to the official Xbox charging dock that came with the controller? (the one that fits inside the case).

The official Elite 2 Xbox charging dock says on the back that it outputs 5 volts at 0.55 amps (550 miliamps). So it should be safe to plug my wall charger into the dock and then charge my controller through the dock, right?
