Controller Disconnected Error During Xbox Series X Updates

Connecting the controller with a USB cable doesn't work,

Controller still disconnects even with a USB cable connected,

I have the same issue with Series X using mouse and keyboard for Call of Duty Vanguard.

I played during the beta and there was no problems with the controller disconnecting but as soon as the game released, the controller disconnects,

I've tried a Xbox One controller Series X controller, with batteries and a USB cable, and the controllers still disconnects.

I understand that while you are in the process of updating your Xbox, the controller disconnects, causing the update to pause.



I'm wondering if the Xbox controller is automatically hibernating because it hasn't been operated in a while?



If you don't feel any problems with your Xbox or Xbox controller after the update is complete, then you can stop worrying about the Xbox becoming damaged.



In the meantime, you can connect your Xbox to your Xbox controller with a cable to avoid hibernation of your Xbox controller when updating.

If you're attempting to do what I think you you are, it won't work. As soon as you connect a cabled Xbox One or Series X|S controller to a different USB connector it will try to data sync/connect to that device and will disconnect from the previous device. This is why it is recommended that you charge the controller during play directly with the console.
