Controller Cursor

Hello, my son has an Xbox one S, it's about 1.5 years old, lately, when you try to select something on the Xbox menu, it jumps 2 to 3 places instead of one, doesn't happen during games only on the main desktop. I have tried new controllers, cleaned the
old ones. Swapped from wireless to wired, still the same issue, I have even factory reset the whole system. Any insight is appreciated!!!

Authentication problems.

SOMETIMES I get a cursor and I can type in the username. There is no tab button on the controller so I have to hit the B to get the cursor and choose the password line, except that now the cursor is gone for good.

Sounds like the controls are inverted. Hardcore gamers tend to prefer a control where pressing the joystick forward or up makes the character look down and vice versa. To see if this is the problem: 1)Click start, the small button in the right center of
most controllers, 2) Move the cursor to the second option "Help & Options" and press a, the green button on the right, 3) move the cursor to the third option "Controls" and click a on the controller, 4) near the middle of the screen will be a box that can
be checked called "Invert Look". If this is checked, it means moving the cursor down will make the character look up. If it is, move the cursor down one and when "Invert Look" is highlighted hit a on the controller.

Are you navigating vertically using the triggers, if so this is the correct function.

 

No the d-pad and the analog sticks both do this. But while playing a game everything works fine.

 

Have you connected them to the console using a micro USB to USB cable and gone to settings>Kinect & Devices>Devices & Accessories to check for firmware updates.
