Controller buggy on Halo Infinite

Hi all,

I found previous issues in the forums using controllers for Halo Infinite on the PC, but I didn't find my specific issue. I just got Xbox Game Pass for PC and installed Halo Infinite Campaign. I'm using the controller (wired Xbox controller) the whole time, but I'm having several issues:

1) All the button prompts are showing up for keyboard. Sometimes they will be controller prompts, and will switch back to keyboard prompts when any input on the controller is used.

2) There is no aim assist.

3) The controller works while I play the game, but when I press start to go into the Halo menu, the controller stops working. If I press a button on the controller, I hear the noise as if I pressed a button, but it doesn't do the intended action. I have to use mouse and keyboard to navigate the menu.

Things I've tried:

1) Only using the controller to start the game. Made no difference.

2) Restarting computer, xbox app, updating the controller, etc. No difference.

3) Unplugging mouse and keyboard from PC. No difference.

4) Trying a different Xbox controller. Exactly the same.

It's working on other games normally, but all my other games are through Steam. This is the only one through the Xbox app. It works normally on Halo Infinite multiplayer, which is through Steam.

Does anyone have any ideas?

It works! No more controller problems with Halo now that I've unticked the Xbox configuration box on Steam. I'll make sure to retick it when switching games. Thanks!

We understand that you are trying to play Halo installed from Xbox app and is unable to because of the controller issue. Let us check on this together so you will get back to gaming.

Based on your description, the Xbox Wireless Controller's button prompts keyboard keys while playing Halo and this is only happening on the game installed through Xbox app. We have previous customer that experience this issue and here is what you can do to resolve this. Please see this link and make sure to uncheck/untick the part where it says Xbox Configuration Support on Steam's Controller Settings.

Kindly enable this Xbox Configuration Support when you are about to play Steam games.
