    Constant HDMI handshake issues on Series X and LG CX OLED


    I apologize if this is already a known issue but it's incredibly frustrating, I have reported this to MS today.

    I'm having constant HDMI 2.1 handshake issues. Sometimes when using youtube, the signal will just randomly drop and I get a "no signal" error on the TV, it will then randomly start working again. Sometimes I will switch to Hulu app and the audio will not be working. Sometimes I'll open an app and the resolution will drop to 480p.

    This can all be rectified by hard booting the console but this is totally unacceptable. Getting constantly interrupted in YT videos or having to reboot when I want to watch Hulu is just obnoxious.

    I've tried adjusting the advanced HDMI settings on the TV, it does not help. This may be an eARC bug but I'm not sure, I have not tried a different HDMI port.

    What do you play on?

    Right now I’m on a 42 inch Samsung QLED 4K HDR set, but before the Series X is out I’m planning on upgrading to the LG C9 or CX in 65 inch. I need that HDMI 2.1 120hz OLED goodness in my life.

    Similar issue for me. Have xbox series x connected to lg cx and cx connected via e-arc to tsr-700 receiver and 5.1.2 system. Even booting up the console the audio cuts in and out/ stutters! Tried watching some uhd blu rays and same issue. It comes and

    Having this issue with the series X and the 2020 77” LG OLED. Only thing that fixes it is turning the TV off and on.

    I don’t blame you for wanting a TV with HDMI 2.1 as you definelty want to future proof yourself. If you are concerned I recommend purchasing a TV with supports HDMI 2.1. I recently bought an LG OLED CX model that has four HDMI 2.1 ports. These TV’s are
    expensive so be prepared to spend a lot.

    Hi,

    Have you checked out the Rtings website for optimal calibration settings of your LG CX OLED?

    https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/lg/cx-oled/settings

    I used that site to calibrate my LG C2 OLED to rather excellent results.

    If you watch Streaming services it would best to use those apps downloaded directly to your TV as their display settings can then be calibrated independently from your console. If you use game mode for both it just won't look right.
