    I have a strange problem. I'm not sure exactly how long this has been going on now but it might be close to a year now, where my Xbox one will turn itself on. It seems to happen most frequently after I do something on my phone such as download a podcast
    episode or an image, seconds after the download begins my Xbox will chime & turn on. The app I use for podcasts on my phone has nothing to do with Microsoft and is in no way connected to any other device of mine but my phone. This is just the most predictable
    way to see the console turn itself on, however there have been times when I will come home from work after 9 hours of not being in the house, and I will see that my xbox is on, and there is nobody in the house that would have turned it on. Just last week,
    using my phone, which again is no way connected to my Xbox, I closed the YouTube app, and right after I did that, my console turned on. And just last night and this morning I witnessed my Xbox turning on when i didnt do anything with my phone or tv or anything.
    Point being that my console is turning itself on, okay, established. I have my console on power saving mode, so it isn't doing auto updates the way it would if I had it set to instant-on mode. I have tried hard resetting after toggling between power saving
    mode and instant-on mode multiple times and it hasn't made a difference. I do not have a Kinect, so it isn't like the Xbox knows my voice or sees me walk in the room. I find myself having to leave my Xbox unplugged when I'm not using it out of paranoia that
    it will turn itself on again. I don't think this is relevant but I have had to change my Microsoft password maybe 8 times in the last year due to it being compromised.

    Is anyone else having this issue? I'd at least like to know why it's happening even if it isn't fixable, although I would love it if it could be resolved as I can't help but think someone's trying to spy on me or something.

    Recently, my XBOX ONE console has been turning on by itself, It does not make any sound but the power button lights on completely. I do not have any smart glass device connected.

    OK, So I have just recently set up my Xbox back up after a move. I had installed the new dashboard and when I went to turn it off a few seconds later it turned itself back on again. Attempted to turn off the console and again a few seconds later it turns
    itself on.

    I have made sure that there are no controllers that are causing it to turn on. I don't have a kinect set up. Not sure why it's doing this.

    EDIT1:Woops, Forgot to also mention. After I turn it off. The power button flashes (Like it does when it's doing the background download) and then after one flash it turns back on.

    EDIT2: OK, So I have found the reason it seems. I turned off background DL's and it doesn't do it anymore...anyone know why this would be happening? :/

    Hi!

    I already solved the issue.

    It looks like the problem has something to do with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered. However, I don't know exactly what triggers this error.

    The solution was to reset the console.

    (Quick notes:

    I was running a preview version of the OS when this error happened. I have not tested with the stable version.)

    Hey Berna -

    Which mode is your console set to:
    Instant On or Energy Saver    ? And do you have background downloads enabled? It sounds as if your console is downloading/installing updates while in instant-on mode. Try changing it to energy saver and see if you still experience the issue. :)

    Sorry to hear! Would there happen to be any objects that may be within range of the power button on your Xbox One console, such as loose cables? Additionally, this may be a bit of a reach but has been a cause for others with a similar issue, but is there
    a possibility that you have any pets that could possibly be within reach of the power button? I know those are silly scenarios, but we've seen this in some cases with the touch buttons on the Xbox One console.

    If the above does not apply, let's start out with the following steps:

    • Press and hold the power button on your Xbox One console until the console fully powers down,
    • Unplug your Xbox One console's power from the console and let it sit for 5 minutes
    • After the time is up, plug everything back in and reboot.
    If the issue occurs again, the next best step would be to Factory Restore your Xbox One console and select 'Reset and keep my games & apps'.
