Thank you, Glenn. I appreciate the insight (even though what you had to share was a total bummer!).

I think I got a bit lucky. Turns out my warranty period was one year. (Maybe because I bought directly from MS or because I purchased the complete care insurance? I’m not sure.) I talked to the MS Support folks this morning and worked out a warranty claim ticket. Just need to box up the console, ship it out, and wait for a few weeks. Not great, but better than it could’ve been.

For anyone out there considering a refurbished Xbox Series X (or maybe even a new one), they are not bulletproof. Mine lasted fewer than 90 days before essentially becoming a brick (apps worked, but games crashed at startup). Consider getting the extra insurance. And contact MS Support as soon as any technical issues appear. In my case, and for a fair number of other people based on what I can see out on the internets, the problems can start small and become big pretty quick. It can also take time to connect with MS Support and work through their list of troubleshooting options (over an hour all told for me).

I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing issues with your Xbox Series X.

Based on the troubleshooting steps you've already taken; it sounds like you've done everything you can to try and resolve the issue including contacting Xbox support.

At this point your only option is to check if you can have the refurbished console serviced. Depending on your location the warranty in most cases is 90-days for repairing a refurbished unit. If it's beyond 90-days already that you need to pay for repairs. I'm sorry to be the one to tell you this, Fish Lawyer, we cannot do anything more than that.

Just to clarify, do you have two games running at the same time or issue happens when you have one or the other game running on the console?

Same here. Have had the problem/code repeatedly, as well as other issues loading game. Xbox Series X, fully updated. AC Valhalla on disc, fully updated. Tried restarting console, power cycling console, no good. The other issue I have repeatedly is that it will get to the screen showing the save symbol then drop me back to the Xbox dashboard. I’ve fixed it in the past sometimes by loading and playing another game that uses a disc, then when I go back to Valhalla it works, but not this time. Now nothing let’s me past the code.
