Console refuses to recognize any wifi, and does not connect to internet after recent update.

I'm getting the same problem after applying the recent update this evening, the same error. Logging out and back in does not work. Neither does multiple restarts of both the console and my internet connection. Is there any more info on this?

I am here looking to see if this is an issue or if anyone else has it also. I have this issue now with a wired connection. It started last evening after an apparent system hard reboot. I checked and found an update had been applied to my console. Symptoms
are no internet connectivity on a wired connection. I switched to WiFi and it does connect so this removes the possibility of port blocking as the same router is used for wired and WiFi connectivity. Does anyone know what yesterday's console update was for
and if there is a way to back out of it?

So you have downloaded the new Console Companion app now? Make sure that you have the app connected through the same internet that your Xbox is running through, as this is how it will recognize it. If you have your Xbox connected through your homes
WiFi, but say you are using your phone data internet connection (without being connected to the same WiFi) to connect the app, then it will not find the console and cannot connect. So I would check the internet connections first and make sure they are connected
through the same method.

Normally being connect to the internet via wired is better so you wont get disruption with other devices trying to connect to the Wifi. if the modem/router is too far from your console the wifi should be fine. Xbox one has some pretty big updates and a
clear connection is crucial. With that said, when I first got my console I was connected wirelessly and was able to receive the updates and downloads with no problems. I recently moved my console closer to my modem to have a wired connection. Either way is
fine and there are no "frying" going on of HDD because of the Wifi.

I'm afraid that for initial set-up an internet connection is required, since it will download an update and other steps that require an active internet connection.

After the initial set up is done, the console can be set to offline more (via the Settings) after which no internet connection is needed.

Keep in mind that games usually will have an update, so in order to fully enjoy a game, it's best to periodically connect the console to the internet and download any updates.

As alternative option, a wifi hotspot could be used for initial set up (via for example a smart phone), but keep in mind that the initial update can be quite big so make sure the data connection on the phone is capable of it and won't result in high mobile
costs
