Console hangs up after a couple of minutes playing any game.

Just to confirm, did you also select the "Remove Everything" option during the reset? If not, I recommend trying that to rule out any persistent software issues.

If you have already chosen "Remove Everything" and the issue persists, it's possible that there may be a hardware-related problem. When the Xbox shuts down while launching a game, it can sometimes indicate that an internal hardware component is malfunctioning.

In this case, I recommend registering your Xbox online to check your repair options. To get started, sign in at https://account.microsoft.com/devices/select-de..., select Register new device using the 12-digit serial number located on the back, and then follow the instructions.

I had to start over too. Level 41 on Skyrim and 4 months of play down the tubes. I have the older Xbox 360, and it would hang at the startup XBOX 360 splash screen, sometimes, after a couple minutes it would pop into the dashboard, but not see any profiles.
Playing the game became jittery and often I got the disc unreadable error. Game disk is immaculate.

I'd say that's fairly close. There's not really a minimum amount, but if the air can't circulate then it's going to keep heating up.

I'd suggest testing for yourself. Turn it on and feel it after a couple minutes, and then test after a couple minutes of game play. But ultimately, I'd give it as much space as you can.

Game discs now have a new format, so now you will hear the disc spinning as the game starts up, but after a couple of minutes you should hear your console go silent again as it plays from the HD. Or is the disc constantly working as you play MW3?

This is the console backing up your saves. It should shut down on it's own after a couple of minutes. Do you have the cloud set up?
