    Console Audio Output Drop Issue after starting apps and game


    Hello Xbox Insider Team, i am in the Alpha ring and yes my xbox series x is up to date. I would like to report an issue with the console audio output dropping all of a sudden. So here are the steps I took right before the audio dropped out.

    1.) First I turned on my Xbox Series X from full shutdown.

    2.) Then I opened up Microsoft Rewards and then went to home dashboard

    3.) I opened up Microsoft Edge and then went back to dashboard

    4.) I started up the game Biomutant which is free to play this weekend. As soon as I got to the main menu of Biomutant, the audio dropped and not just the game audio but also the dashboard audio and everything on the console.

    5.) I know the problem is not my 4k tv because i pressed the settings on the tv and it makes full sound so that narrows it down to an issue with the console audio output.

    6.) You guys might wanna download biomutant, turn on dolby home theater settings and see if you also have this problem. It may not always happen so it may be sporadic as to when the audio completely drops. It happened to me twice and both times it was linked to Biomutant but I'm not completely sure.

    Thank you for your diligence as always (and yes i reported the problem on console)

    UPDATE: Right after i said it wasn't my tv, i switched to cable and the audio has dropped over there as well. I have a sony X85J. The strange part is that when i press settings, i can hear the audio when manuevering around settings but i can't hear content like cable or the xbox game. I didn't test it with the 360 or ps5 to narrow the problem to the hdmi cable but i am power cycling as we speak. I turned off the power completely for 5 minutes and will restart. Stay tuned.

    i can’t Hear my game

    Are you playing on a Xbox console?

    If so, go to the audio settings in the console settings and set up the console audio to output game audio via headset.

    In the headphone settings you can also set up spatial 3D audio, by turning the audio output for headphones to Windows Sonic, or if you have purchased the Atmos App (the free app only works 14 days with headphones), you can also set Dolby Atmos for headphones.

    If you are on the PC, you need to make the headphone your device for audio output (not only voice communications).

    Click on the speaker icon in the lower right, and choose the output channel for the headphone. Depending on your soundcard or USB headset, you need to select the proper audio output.

    Sound cuts out????

    To be clear to anyone who reads this...the audio issues of BF4 are their own.

    I have experience the same thing as the OP and can confirm...

    - HDMI cables don't matter

    - I've set mine up to have everything run to an HDMI port on the TV then optical audio out to the Tuner. It worked great for the first hour but has since dropped to silence a matter of minutes after starting, seemingly indifferent to any app, I've tried
    two games, netflix, amazon instant video, all drop the audio and stay silent until every component is turned off and back on.

    - if, when it is silent, I turn on the TV audio (instead of using the tuner output) the audio is there working per usual

    - we should get some form of payment for beta-testing a system that was put into the while WAY TOO SOON!

    Odd sound issue.

    This may seem stupid but do you get the audio drop out if you change the display output of the console at all?

    By that I mean dropping it down to 720p or up to 1080p/i or any other setting.

    go into the settings in companion app and change output audio, mine usually sets the mic as the audio output for some reason.

    An update of sorts: I have discovered that if I start up (after unplugging from the wall and at the brick) the audio will work fine for as long as I care to play either of the two games I own. However, if after gaming with no audio issues, I try to use Netflix
    or Amazon Prime the audio will drop within a matter of minutes.

    Likewise, if I power down and cold reboot (as described above) the audio will work fine again until launching either of those apps. If I stick with games I don't have an issue. I thinking something with the optical audio processing on the apps versus the
    games.

    Lastly, as stated above if I turn up the volume on my TV itself, not the tuner which has audio piped to it via the TV's optical out and into the turn, the audio will be working fine. So annoying...very reproducible but at least fixable.
