connecting xbox one through HDMI lead

Hello Barry, in your description it says that it tried to connect from the TV to the HDMI Spliter, if so, TV`s do not have HDMI Out, it is rare that one does.

What you have to do is connect the two consoles to the HDMI in, of your Spliter and the HDMI Out output of the Spliter to connect to the TV.

Note: I don't know what kind of Spliter it has, but many are not just image replicators, there is a difference between Spliter and switch, for your case as you have consoles but your TV only has one HDMI input you need an HDMI Switch

Get a 1xHDMI IN to 2xHDMI OUT splitter and a total of 4 HDMI leads.

1. Plug the HDMI lead from your cable box into the HDMI IN port on the splitter

2. Plug a HDMI lead into one HDMI OUT port on the splitter and into the HDMI IN port on you xbox

3. Plug another HDMI lead from the Xbox One into HDMI 1 on your TV (lie normal)

4. Plug one last HDMI lead from the other HDMI OUT port port on the splitter to HDMI 2 on the TV

Now you "should" have the Xbox One on HDMI 1 with TV and all the bells and whistles but if you use HDMI 2 then you should still have access to TV directly. Please note I haven't tried this yet (sitting here waiting for my Xbox) but I might have to if my
wife hates using it through the Xbox, however I see no reason why it wouldn't work.

i have a jvc surround sound dvd player and have my xbox one connected by hdmi and optical lead and i cant get no sound through my speakers either dont no if anyone nos anything about this

Yes, this I understand. But, even with it connected to the tv, it still will not connect to the controller if the tv is complertely powered down and not in standby mode,which is odd. It therefore must follow that there is no power going through the HDMI
lead, hence why I disconnected the HDMI lead, and was to be expected. But, why has microsoft not publicised the fact that some tv's may, when completely powered down, prevent the console form linking with the controller, as if the HDMI lead is diconnected.

As the HDMI cable has been disconnected it's always just worth checking that the cable is in the correct HDMI port on the xbox, it's the port nearest to the power lead.
