Connecting my Xbox to my laptop pt 2

Im rewriting this because I wasn't clear in my last one so im sorry if you've seen or answered this already,

So I'm not gonna have my TV for much longer so I need to connect my Xbox to my laptop to stream, I've tried connecting them when my Xbox is hooked up to the tv and when my xbox is hooked up to my laptop through the HDMI1 lead, I have the Xbox concole companion
app and am signed in on my account and when I go into connections my Xbox does not come up, I've tried many times putting in my IP address and it still can't find it. I've restarted my Xbox and laptop, I've made 100% sure they're on the same network, I have
activated streaming on my console and have allowed everything, I've watched so many videos on how to do this and gotten a lot of responses that I'm sure have helped majority of people in my situation but nothing seems to be working, anyone know anything I've
forgotten that could fix it?

how is the speed of you're internet are both on wi fi or one is net connected check all that

My internet connection is fully on every time, my network is wireless and it's secured, and I only have 2 things on it: my laptop and the Xbox. I just tried it without my laptop on and I still had the problem.

I would reset the router/ modem, see if it improves. Otherwise give both (BT/ VM) a call.

Im with VM and my connection recently has been playing up.

About 1-2 months ago, laptop + xbox on = Connection awesome

Recently laptop + xbox on = Connection terrible.

I have 2 ethernet cable, one running to my laptop and one to my xbox one. I don't experience problems on my laptop (but I don't use it for gaming, so it does not really need as stable connection as the xbox), but the problem is still present with the other
eternet cable on my xbox. Do you know a tool for checking the stability of the connection for either windows or linux?
