Connecting my Microsoft account to my Mojang Studios account

I have a receipt for Mojang Studios' order for Minecraft Java. Do I have to log on to a Mojang account or does my Microsoft Account suffice?

Will third-party launchers continue to work?

Mojang Studios does not officially support community third-party launchers for either Mojang Account or Microsoft Secured Account (MSA) based authentication.

It says this account has been migrated and to use microsoft to log in, but none of my microsoft accounts are connected to that mojang account, the microsoft username, isabelly6738, is even in my minecraft launcher.

there are two versions of minecraft, the java version on mojang website, the is the original.

There is also the version on the windows 10 store which is crossplay with the console versions.

If you are wanting to play with friends on other pcs and they have the java version you will need to buy that one from mojang website.
