Connecting an xbox one to a soundbar attached to a TV without HDMI arc

Hi,

I have a problem that seems very simple but I keep finding complicated and contradictory answers in various fora.

I have an xbox one S attached to an older TV that does not have HDMI arc.

I have just bought a HISENSE HS214 2.1 All-in-one Sound Bar, which has HDMI arc, optical, coax, and 3.5m aux inputs (as well as bluetooth). I want to attach this to my TV and get sound through the xbox. I don't need sound from the TV itself because I watch all TV through streaming apps on the xbox.

How do I need to set this up? Can I just connect the xbox directly to the soundbar using an optical cable and Connect the xbox to the TV using HDMI. If so I need to purchase an optical cable. Or is there an alternative that doesn't require me to buy me more cables (I have plenty of HDMI and coax cables).

if the monitor has a 3.5mm output and the soundbar has that as an input then that way. lg tv's these days have arc so could have attached soundbar to arc hdmi port and then xbox to another port on the tv, but as you have a monitor the options are limited.

Thanks for this. This was my initial thought, but then when I googled it I found so many posts making it sound a lot more complicated!

I guess I was over-complicating things!

Optical from Xbox to Sound Bar + Xbox to TV HDMI

Optical from Tv to Soundbar + Xbox to Tv HDMI

XBOX to Soundbar via HDMI, Soundbar to TV HDMI

XBOX To TV HDMI, TV to Soundbar HDMI (ARC)

Hi

Try changing the HDMI OUT XBOX to go to TV but leave the soundbar as is. My set up is HDMI OUT XBOX to TV,
HDMI ARC on TV to HDMI IN on soundbar.
