Kind of sounds like your Gamertag and Microsoft Account were not linked, so that when you signed in the system generated a random Gamertag for your Microsoft Account. I think by what your saying about changing your GT and the same name on computer and console
lend me to believe that your in good shape.

To make sure that everything is synched up and up to date, we will delete your profile from your console and then redownload it.

Follow these steps to delete your Profile.

Delete a gamer profile
You can delete profiles that you no longer use from your console. Here’s how:

1. Go to Settings, and then select System.
2. Select Storage.
3. Select All Devices.
4. Select Gamer Profiles.
5. Select the gamertag that you want to delete.
6. Select Delete.
7. Select one of the following:

• Select Delete Profile Only. This deletes the profile but leaves saved games and achievements.
  
• Select Delete Profile and Items to delete the profile and the associated saved games and achievements
  

NOTE: select delete profile only



Follow these steps to download your profile.

Download your Xbox LIVE profile

You might want to download your Xbox LIVE gamer profile in the following situations:

• You want to use your Xbox LIVE gamertag on another console.
• You have a Zune, Games for Windows, or Windows 8 Microsoft account (download your existing account instead of creating a new account).
  
• You accidentally deleted your Xbox LIVE gamertag from your console.

You can download your Xbox LIVE gamertag to any console. Here’s how:

1. 1. Press the Xbox Guide button on your controller (large X button in the center of your controller).
      
   2. Select Download Profile.

Note Not seeing Download Profile? Press X to sign out of your profile.

1. 1. Enter the Microsoft account associated with your Xbox LIVE gamertag. If you don’t know your Microsoft account or password, see

      Note “Microsoft account” is the new name for what used to be called “Windows Live ID.” It’s the email address and password you use to sign in to Microsoft services (including Xbox LIVE).

   2. Now, enter your Microsoft account password.
      Note If your account is an Xbox LIVE child account, the parent’s Microsoft account information is required to download the profile.
      
   3. Select the storage device for your profile (for example, Hard Drive).

Your profile will begin downloading. Once your profile is downloaded, you can choose whether or not you want to require your Microsoft account password to sign into your profile.

The Remember Password option is off by default, which means you’ll be prompted for your Microsoft account password when you sign into your Xbox LIVE profile.

1. 1. Leave the Remember Password unchecked (off), if you want to be prompted for your Microsoft account password when you sign into your profile on this console.
      

Note If you’re downloading your profile to your own console, you can select the Remember Password option so that you aren’t prompted for your Microsoft account password when you sign into your profile.

You can now sign in using your Xbox LIVE gamertag on this console.

Important If you downloaded your profile to another console and you chose the Remember Password option, you can remotely remove the password so that your profile can’t be accessed on the other console. To learn how to do this, see

After this you should be good to continue with joining Live Gold.

The steps you would normally take to solve this issue are as follows;

If you haven't tried to reset your password by doing SMS validation, answering the secret question, send a security code to phone or email a reset link to your alternate email that is associated to your account please follow the steps below:

1. Go to this link,
account.live.com/.../reset.

2. Choose I forgot password.

3. Click reset your password.

4. Enter your account.

5. Enter the characters you see.

6. Click next.

7. Select the reset option that is associated to your account.

If the reset option doesn’t work for you.

8. Then choose I can't use any of these options.

9. Answer the questionnaire to establish ownership.

10. Then click submit.

Now this all assumes you know the info that was put into your mom's account of you have access to the phone she gave as s contact (for SMS).

To be honest with you, I would suggest your best course of action is to start a new account linked to your own passport.
