Computer freezing when I alt tab or click on second monitor.

Hey everyone.

So I know people might not be able to help me with this but I'd try to see if people could help.

So I have an Overpowered (Walmart) Gaming Laptop from 2018. A few months ago I was playing Stardew Valley and I tabbed out to my second monitor and my computer kept freezing and I would have to restart it by shutting it down and turning it back on, but then after like 1-2 days, it fixed itself.

I started playing Destiny 2 again a few months ago, a FPS game after taking about a year of break, and the same issue occurred. It has been like this for about 2 months, and I haven't been able to fix it. I tried it with other games and it seems like any fullscreen game will cause it to freeze if I alt-tab or go on my second monitor. I should mention that I have done some stuff to my computer, like add RAM and put in a new NVME drive, but the NVME drive hasn't been used.

Also, if I tab out while the game is loading it will freeze. Also also, I can click off my monitor, but if I do it again within about 5 minutes my entire computer will freeze.

If anyone sees this and has had similar issues and has been able to fix it please tell me. Thanks!

Hey Samy my games are always in windowed borderless I have a msi 1070 gaming laptop and this recently just started happening where when i click on my laptop monitor from my other monitor my pc freezes and i can still hear everything and click and pause a youtube video nothing else works i cannot do anything i am forced to restarting my pc but everytime it does it again everytime i click on my second monitor and cannot find the issue anywhere know anything i could try?

If the game is in borderless window mode the problem doesn't happen?

Hey thanks for responding. My specs are:

i7-9700

gtx 1660 ti

32 gb 2666 ram

256 gb nvme ssd

1 tb hhd

500w power supply

Its a prebuilt HP Omen Obelisk and I'm pretty sure the cpu has been overclocked with this computer before it was shipped. Not sure if that is messing with my computer. Also when I say alt-tab, I mean that I press alt+tab and hold on alt to preview all my tabs. When I preview my tabs, I notice that the game runs very smoothly, yet it is only when I tab back into the game that it is unplayable. Hope that helps
