  2. Can someone please list the pros and cons of the X1 and Ps4

    I've actually, ironically, got to agree with the Xbox community here; if you're mostly interested in the dedicated servers, media services, etc, etc, then the Xbox One is the way to go. My reasons for preferring a PS4 have absolutely zilch to do with any of that, and so won't be much of a contribution. x3

    Xbox One: Dedicated Servers and Why You Should Care

    A dedicated server is when a multiplayer game is run on a actual server(or a dedicated server) in this case in a Microsoft data center. Microsoft has data centers on every continent and can offer dedicated servers for every region. Every player in a game connects directly to the server and you only communicate directly with the server.

    What are the benefits to this system?

    * They are dynamic, in other words you will never see a Xbox One game lose server support as servers are dedicated on the fly and are dynamic to consumers requests on Xbox Live. In other words a server might be running Titanfall one day and the next day Forza Motorsport 5.

    * It's Free!, not to us consumers of course but it's free to all first and third party developers as we are paying for it. This is fantastic for developers like Respawn who would otherwise not have done dedicated servers in every region due to cost.

    * No host advantage (Normal servers where everyone connects to the host player gives the host a latency advantage.)

    * No NAT issues, you will no longer have open your NAT or worry about having problems connecting to other players.

    * No lag effects, usually when someone lags in a racing game like Forza there car will start to spaz out and start hitting other people or flying. With dedicated servers you will no longer experience this effect and it will not affect the players in a game.

    * Higher ping toleration, people with higher pings will have a lot less of a problem playing with others.

    * Bigger multiplayer games, as the server is handling everything in the muiltplayer game it can allow for even larger and more epic multiplayer experiences without negative effects.

    In other words this is the most superior way to run a multiplayer game and Xbox Live on Xbox One will have it for every game in every region, Sony cannot and will not match this.

    ^Infinity Ward has already released a statement that the Xbox One is not strictly dedicated servers, it's a mixture of dedicated and listen servers. As for every other game, there will be dedicated servers available but there's no guarantee that every single
    match you play will be on them.

    Well there are a few dedicated servers such as in call of duty: ghost on the xbox 360. And yes Microsoft confirmed that all xbox one titles and games will have dedicated servers.

    connects console to console in a dedicated server configuration. One's console connects to the dedicated server and that's it. All communication for the game is from multiple clients to a single server. By definition, you do not "connect to anyone", your console only
    connects to Microsoft.



    This distinction is important. With the 360, people are being DoS'ed or DDoS'ed because the "server" console's communication with all other player consoles exposes those player's IP addresses to the server. It's a trivial matter to harvest that information
    and then do bad things with it. In a dedicated server environment, that's no longer possible. The only communication that takes place is from one's console to the dedicated server. 64 players on a dedicated server? None of the 64 player consoles would ever
    communicate with any other player console.
    because its essentially MS hosting everything instead of worrying about individual P2P connections.
    Microsoft is providing dedicated server facilities as an option. Game developers are not being forced
    to use Azure. It appears they're maintaining the option that current-day 360 titles use - ad-hoc election of a server console during match creation.



    Also, there are very few true P2P games on the 360. Most are ad-hoc client/server where one console is elected the server for a match and the rest are clients.

    it is a different network as all of it runs on dedicated servers, and all the games run on dedicated server, that is why there is no cross play and no party chat between 360 and xbox one, and this xbox one is awesome, glad I got one.

    From what I know Ghost on the Xbox One will use Microsoft's Azure Dedicated servers while the PS4, PS3, 360 and Wii U will use dedicated servers and listen servers.
