Community Helper deleted all my captures for me

I had an issue last night where i couldnt install the black ops 1 disc. I went through microsoft support to the xbox community for help, where i was linked up with a man named Jose. Im sure theres many Jose’s out there that are awesome, but this one is
definitely not. He advised me to do a factory reset, which i was very hesitant to do at first because i had hundreds of captures saved to my console. I asked him if my SAVED captures would be deleted, and he assured me they wouldnt. I was also told many of
my preferences would be changed either. I was told to hit the “keep all games and app” button during the troubleshooting process, so finally i did. It didnt fix my issue so i gave up and continued on to another game. Tonight, i recorded and thought to go in
and check on my captures. I switched it over to ‘on this xbox,’ and found only the clip i had just recorded. Hundreds of captures were gone just like that. I was planning to make a youtube channel to put all those clips into some videos, but because of Jose’s
negligence i now have barely anything left as for captures. I have many uploaded to xbox live, but many of my favorite ones from a while back were not uploaded. Jose completely ruined my idea for a youtube channel, and he is still able to pose as helpful to
the community. He’s probably out telling people to do factory resets for any minor issue. Im devastated for the captures i lost, but even more devastated for anyone else who may have a similar experience. This guy doesnt deserve to keep doing this. I hope
you read this Jose, you’re one of the most pathetic human beings ive ever had to encounter.

Hi there.

A factory reset does what it says on the tin. Anything local (other than the games and app if selected) is deleted. This is final. I wouldn't recommend storing things you want to keep locally. You have the option to upload these to the cloud.

I can assure that Jose did what he thought was right and without malice. The way I tend to work is to point people towards webpages that detail their issue then they can make their own decision as to what they wish to do.

It has this huge warning:

Warning Resetting your console to its factory defaults erases all accounts, saved games, settings, and home Xbox associations. Anything not synchronized with Xbox Live will be lost. Your

Im sorry you have lost your captures.

I knew going in it was final. He had me believing the captures were included with the games and apps; thus preventing them from being lost. This however wasnt the case. The reset didnt even fix my original issue. I don’t truly think hes intentionally trying
to get people to delete their stuff, but he shouldn’t be explaining things that arent true. I was very nervous to go through with the reset, but his exact words were “nothing will be deleted.” Thats not even including the various times i directly asked about
captures, so he said it would be fine several times! I wouldve been much happier if he just told me he didnt know a solution, rather than just say screw it reset your whole console. I dont think a factory reset should ever be the first thing someone recommends.

Similar problem: I had 210 captures. Selected all and saved. Only 155 saved. I used xboxdvr.com to pull my saved captures to my PC and deleted the "saved" captures from Upload. The remaining 55 "unsaved" captures fail to save and give the aforementioned
error at the beginning of this thread. All of my captures are recorded by me and this also includes screenshots.

Any updates from a Moderater would be extremely helpful

I do own the app. Captures will not delete from there either.

The captures also do a cycle where it shows all the “deleted attempts” and won’t delete, then it’ll show no old clips I’m trying to delete (it’ll show any recent clips I’ve tried to add) and that’s when it allows me to upload. It also will show all my old clips and screenshots and when I go into recently captures, it shows the most recently added captures to Xbox live. Right now, it is showing 101 clips and when I click on recently captures, it shows the 4 I managed to slip on to Xbox live only. It’ll eventually revert to the 101 clips and not show the most recent ones.

I have a simular issue. I accidentally deleted my "Captures" folder. And now all my captures are being saved to '\AppData\Local\Temp'

I want I created a new Captures folder in my videos, however all my screenshots and video captures are still being saved in 'Temp'
