Coerced into buying xbox live every time I start the game

I let live run out because its not very good at all, its just small 8-16 player games hosted on users hardware and its very laggy and has too much cheating, did you know you cant cancel live on the console you have to do it on a pc.

Anyway every time I start watchdogs a message says you do not have xbox live and puts me on a purchase button, this is disgusting tactics to push a product that is full of lag, cheating and idiots.

have you tried using a hard wire connection? (enthernet wire connected from xbox to modem)

 

You should find on the Xbox One the games perform better since many will use the Microsoft Azure Cloud (Forza 5 for example) which will reduce lag and mean the games are not hosted on a particular users Xbox, removing that host advantage.

Not much you can do about the cheats / early quitting / mardiness / singing / whiny children / awful music

 

By the time information gets to the server and back to your console its at least a tenth of a second (100ms) and that's on a good day on a very good connection, so I don't really see how it can be useful in real time, surely cloud processing will cause a
lot more lag?

In the UK the live service has always had a lot of latency and outages, and from the games I've played online its worse than the 360, something of a joke really.

 

Been using XBox One since day 1 and had some network downtime last night but what you describe is just wrong.

 

I've got a 7 day code in one of my game boxes and I'll try cod ghosts to see if its better or worse than games on the 360.

 

Just as I thought, the live network is terrible in the UK and from what I've been reading its no good in America either.

300,000 servers and cloud processing might sound great, but in the real world its the worst online gaming I've seen in 10 years.

 

Perhaps it is your Internet connection that is the problem? I haven't had any of the issues you've discussed. I experienced about 10 seconds of lag while playing Watch Dogs and then it sorted itself out.

 

I've tested all that, ping tests, speed tests, all from a pc on the same hub, no packet loss and a steady 9 mbps.

Ghosts was lag free but the aimbotters have pretty much driven everyone else away, I wouldn't play xbox live if it was free.

 

They don't make it easy to cancel live do they, no wonder the ps4 is selling more, every time you turn around microsoft is trying to put its hand in your pocket.

 

Ive had live for about 9 years now, had 1 or 2 outages, lived on 3 continents(including some time in the UK a few years back), and ive honestly never had a serious issue with the connection speed. (currently in hk, had it in mainland china as well for a
period. Worked great even though its not officially supported there.) Now my PSN connection has been poor. Now if im playing people in the US from asia, the latency is bad, but if its local or regional its great. The same cant be said for my psn account, which
I've let lapse until I pick up a ps4 once it gets a must have title.

In regards to watchdogs, I've had no issues at all with it. Regardless of who I am playing. There are no aim botters on the xb1 version of ghosts that I've seen. Finally, in this case its likely ubi asking you for live as watchdogs is their game, though
I can't be certain on that as I am a live subscriber and never see the messages.

 

How to cancel live: Turn off auto-renew, and let it expire. Bam. Done.

Also, you make it sound like Sony doesn't want your money as well. All of these video game companies want you to spend your money on their product(s). What world do you live in?! lol
