Code sent by brother disappeared

If it was sent as a message, it can expire after a set time. Have your brother look through his recent purchases and then have him send it again once he finds it!

Have your brother check his purchase history and he can resend it or send you a text with the code. Check
your Xbox purchase history

View your Xbox purchase history on your Xbox One console

1. To view your purchases, press the Xbox button to open the guide.
2. Go to Settings > Xbox Assist > Help.
3. Select Purchases & downloads > Purchases > How to get purchase history.
4. Select Order history to view your purchases.

1. Sign in to the Payment & billing page with your Microsoft account.
   
   Note If you don't know your Microsoft account email address or password, use the Lost Account Solution or the Lost
   Password Solution.
2. Compare your purchase history to your bank or credit card statement.

Messages left in Message Requests will be deleted after 30 days I believe. If that's the case, then you'll have to have him resend the code via message. As long as the code wasn't redeemed, and he has access to it, you should be able to redeem it still.

Sometimes I get codes via Xbox messages and I'm given an option to redeem them directly from the messages. Did you happen to check in your order history if the content was redeemed already?
