Cloud saves causing game to crash

I have an Xbox Series S and I’m trying to play the Sims 4. When I start the game, it syncs to cloud to retrieve my saved data (game loads), but then crashes to the Xbox Home Screen afterwards.

I have tried restarting the console, deleting the save from the local save and resyncing to cloud, turning off and unplugging the console. Uninstalling and reinstalling the game

What I notice is that this only happens when trying to load a saved game from cloud, and it is not only my saved games, it is also my daughters saved games. She plays the sims on another profile with a different cloud so it can’t just be that my saved gave is corrupt. I also tried playing under my sons profile because he doesn’t play the game so he has no saved loads on cloud and the game worked just fine.

This also doesn’t happen in other games on the console. So far it just seems to be the sims 4. Any ideas?

Hi Keshanb, I hope you're doing great out there despite the issue that you're experiencing. I am an Independent advisor and I am here to help you in regard to your concern.

To fix this, please perform a power cycle on your console by following the steps below:

POWERCYCLE CONSOLE

1. Turn off your console by holding the Xbox button on the front of the console for approximately 10 seconds. The console will turn off.

2. Turn your console back on by pressing the Xbox button on the console or the Xbox button on your controller.

If that didn't work resetting the console keeping games and apps will be the next option. Don't worry because as long as you're connected to Xbox Live your saved progress, games, will not be deleted. It will remove all of your accounts but you can add all of them later on.

Press the Xbox button to open the guide.

Select Profile & system > Settings > System > Console info.

Select Reset console.

Reset and keep my games & apps.

I have tried the steps suggested, but as I said before, the cloud save seems to actually be the cause of the problem as I don't experience the crash after deleting the save data and choosing not to sync. It only seems to happen when I resync with the cloud.

I'm having the same issue. For me its the cloud sync that causes the crashing. When I re-install it and start it up again I cancel the cloud sync and it runs just fine. I can't find any fix for it or any way to delete cloud save data for PC game pass games.

If you're not overly concerned about starting the game over then I really would delete the local and cloud saves, I had to start forza horizon 2 from scratch more than once due to a corrupted cloud save causing the game to crash back to the home screen which
is frustrating.

All I can say for sure is the game launches fine here with all the DLC installed.

It's a tricky one for sure but as cloud saves are only synced when online I have a feeling that the cloud save despite it syncing is the culprit.

Can you try to start the game with a different profile?

If the game gets to the "Press A" screen, and then crashes, it might be an issue with a savegame.

If the game loads fine on a different profile, your savegame might be corrupted. Go to the storage settings, and clear the local savegame cache.

Try loading the game again, and let the game synchronize your saves from the cloud.

If the game still crashes, the cloud save is corrupted, and I'm afraid you need to start over or see if another save loads.
