Cloud gaming has been unusable since I got a new laptop

In the past, I've been using xCloud/cloud gaming pretty successfully in combination with another cloud service, Shadow. At the start of this year, though, I got a proper gaming laptop, which has been running games perfectly fine. The problems started when I wanted to play on the cloud using this laptop; regardless of what method I try using to play (Xbox app, browser, etc.), both the video and audio are unplayably laggy, to the point of being unusable. Nothing else has changed in the meantime, as I'm still using Ethernet. Is there anything I can do to solve this?

Cloud gaming has been unusable since I got a new laptop

    Hello AnonOC,

    Greetings!

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

Based on the description, you are experiencing problem with cloud gaming using your new laptop device. Let us check and see on what we can do to help resolve your concern in a timely manner.

As per description, the issue you are experiencing for cloud gaming is related to video and audio problems. Most audio and video issues experienced during cloud gaming are caused by problems with the network connection. For the best cloud gaming experience, make sure your device and network meet the minimum system requirements.

    • Internet connection
      • Connection speed: 20 Mbps or higher
      • Connection type:
        • A wired connection (i.e., Ethernet). This is the best option for network quality, or:
        • A 5 GHz Wi-Fi network. If you have a dual-band router (5 GHz and 2.4 GHz), you may need to enable or separate the 5 GHz signal, then make sure your cloud gaming devices are all connected to this same signal. If you’re not sure how to do this, check your device manufacturer’s support site or contact your ISP.

If you’re having video and audio issues while playing games on a web browser, try the following fixes:

    • Close all other tabs in your browser or restart your browser and use only one tab for cloud gaming.
    • Close other apps or programs that are running on your device, then try again.
    • Restart your device, then try again.
Windows devices running in low power mode (or Best battery life) may affect performance and some laptops will automatically switch to low power mode when unplugged. If you experience poor audio quality while in lower power mode:

    • Set the power mode to Best performance. This will drain your battery more quickly.
    • Plug in your laptop.
Note If you visit Xbox.com/play on Chrome from an ARM-based Windows device, you may experience some gameplay issues. For the best experience, we recommend using Microsoft Edge to access Xbox.com/play from your ARM-based Windows device.

High-dynamic-range video (HDR video) is not currently supported for cloud gaming. This means that games that report HDR status in-game will show that HDR is not supported when you’re playing cloud games.

Additionally, keep in mind that the following can affect network speed or increase latency, resulting in lag, out-of-sync audio, or poor graphics quality:

    • Using a mobile hotspot for a network connection
    • Using Wi-Fi extenders
    • Playing on the same network where others are using high-bandwidth apps like video streaming or multiplayer gaming
    • Using multiple screens or displays (use your device’s primary screen or a single display to reduce latency)
    • Casting your device to another screen
    • Enabling VPN
    • Using a custom DNS in your device or your router settings

We look forward to your response. Kindly let us know, if there is any misunderstanding or clarifications of our description by sending us a reply.

Just wondering.. Xbox forums are so [Mod Edit] slow..why?

The forums have been fine for me since I got my new laptop ( only 6GB ram ) so I put all the problems I had before with this site down to my old laptop being basically crap lol

Help! Lost all data on Forza Horizon 2

    Hello

What you could try is delete the local save data and try to resync from the cloud, however since a new savegame has probably been created which has then been uploaded to the cloud I'm afraid nothing can be done about it.
