civilization not downloding

hi all, i m not able to download civilization with free games with gold for february (i'm living in qatar and the region is uae). it says game not available in your region when it start do download.

the strange fact that you can find this game in the stores.

Hi Carton, I have the same problem here in Brazil. My Live is USA but I had no problems until now. I can't find a answer for that one.

Carton, if the system tells you that the game is not available in your region, then, unfortunately, it is not available for you. You might look to see if there is an alternative game for your region.

DeeJaY; the issue with your download is likely that you have a US account in Brazil. Your account region must match where you actually are.

 

Does not make sense be for the region, because i downloaded others free games. It is the third time that it's happening, i lost gear of wars too. Something is wrong with the Microsoft, there is a lot of these forums, a really lot and they are old too, if
it still happening i won't put gold anymore. I pay for this and then i don't getwhat i'm paying for!

 

that's the issue, there is no other alternative for our region. strange no? it showing us that our free game is civilization, but when you try to download it, it gave us that error.

 

Either the publisher or Microsoft has it region locked. I called the support line and they said it was because my region is not in the official list of where Xbox Live is supported. Yet, I've been able to download other free games before...it will be
interesting to see if I can buy once its out of the free period. Either way, 'games with gold' and hence Live Gold has lost some of its value to me.

The game themselves are region locked

For the best experience with X box live your account region and actual region has to match as per international laws and the terms of use

Regions locks are usually in place because of differences in content laws

It's not just because it is a games for gold

Halo and gears and civilizations had always been region locked

Some content don't have to be localized as much

Triple a titles usually are due to content laws

For example Southpark was delayed in Germany because of the anti hate laws and the content had to be changed

 

What they mean by alternatives is not region free content but content being different from other regions lice gears of war month it was shadow run instead for Germany

You still have to be in region for alternatives if they are region locked

For the best experience your account region should match which would solve your problem for the Brazil guy just set up an account for Brazil

 

I live in Ireland but my account is set to region UK, both are eligible for Games with Gold, but I cant download Civilisation either!

 

You live in Ireland, which is a different region than the UK. It would be like me setting my region for Canada even though I live in the US. Games/content that are region locked will not work/download properly if you set your region to a location that is
not where you actually live.

 

Obviously it's a different region but I normally reside in the UK so having the region migration is a little pointless when there's problems such as this.
