    My child encountered issues years back with his Xbox account so started using my Xbox account / gametag. Is there anyway to (a) transfer all his game achievements, online purchases etc that he has on my account back to his original microsoft account/ gametag

    (b) change email address on my account and make it a child account. I will create a new parent account so that I can monitor my childs activity under microsoft family

    The main reason I want to do this is I am unable to monitor or control his screen time as he using my parent account. I do not want to attempt anything to resolve this issue without guidance from Microsoft gurus as there is a lot of game purchases and achievements
    at stake.

    I assume there must be some workaround to resolve this in 2020 but saw previous posts in 2019 saying this is not possible which I find hard to comprehend

    If I create a new account for me as parent in existing family setup in Microsoft and change my old account to child, is there a guarantee that there will be no loss of game achievements or purchases for my old account my son is using

    Sorry, no. You cannot split the achievements and game progress. As far as I know it also isn’t possible to change email addresses on accounts either. You could possibly change the account to a child account and create yourself a new one.

    For parents of children that turn 18, they can promote a child account by using
    support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-360/security/promote-child-account

    If you are the child on the account, you will need your parent(s) to promote your account.

    If the date of birth on your Microsoft account shows that you're under a certain age, Xbox is required to request parental consent for you to use Xbox Live.

    If you're an adult, but you got a message asking for parental consent, it's because you're a child in your Microsoft family.

    Solution

    If you're of an age that requires parental consent, follow the steps on your Xbox to have your parent sign in and add you to their Microsoft family.

    If you're over the age requiring parental consent, have your parent remove you from the family. They'll have to sign in to
    account.microsoft.com/family, select your profile, and select
    Remove.

    If you're unable to clear the message, contact Xbox Support.
