    Child add to adult Gold account


    Ok millions of input here. I have an Xbox Live Gold account, have a son now getting old enough to use xbox one, yet when accessing game download and some of the content on his xbox one he is told needs gold account. He is listed as my family on console and
    I believe in the Live account online, why can he not access the features I have purchased?

    Moving from Xbox 360 to Xbox One and Family Sharing

    As the family sharing option on the Xbox one is a little bit different to the option on the 360 it is definitely recommended the way you describe it. Set up the adult account and get it a gold subscription. Then set up the child account(s) and add them
    to the family and all the family associated accounts are able to use the gold subscription as well as all the digital purchases of the parent/adult account. And of course you can also add another parent/adult account, too.

    Only getting a gold subscription for the child account only works for the specific child account and will not be valid for the adult or other family associated accounts.

    Updates for Family Gold Plan this fall?

    To Zen, When you promote them to an Adult It takes them out of the family gold plan.The problem with it is when you add adults to it their profile is changed into a child account.

    The "family" feature has nothing to do with sharing Xbox Live Gold.

    The account that has Xbox Live Gold needs to be set as the Home Console on the Xbox console where you want the subscription to share out.

    Sign into your account on your Xbox console and go to -

    Settings > Personalization > My Home Xbox > See if it says Make this My home Xbox (meaning this profile is not set as the home console ) or This isn't my home Xbox (meaning that this profile is set as the home console on your Xbox)

    An adult account is required in order to set up restrictions for your child's account, ideally you would put gold on the adult account and share that with the child's account that would be added.
