    Hi

    I have set up family in Microsoft and Xbox and now I want my children to play Minecraft using their own gamertags (we have the gamertag names already generated by Microsoft). When I sign into Minecraft on an iPad it’s with my account and my gamer tag appears. How do I sign in as my child?

    In the case of Minecraft Java, you will need to purchase Minecraft on your son's account, unfortunately.

    "If you are purchasing Minecraft: Java Edition for a child, the child must have their own Minecraft account. And to make the purchase, you must sign in to their account to do so; games cannot be transferred between accounts."

    Now, since you purchased it on a Mojang account, maybe they can open an exception for you or give you a discount on the second purchase for your son. You can try to contact their official support:

    I had the same issues, going round in circles. Follow the advise on this thread, then go into settings on minecraft and log out of the microsoft account, restart minecraft and log in with the child's account again. It worked for me.

    You may need to manage her account settings by signing in to https://account.xbox.com/settings using your account or the account organizer.

    Make sure to allow the setting in this screenshot that has an arrow.
