Child account cannot join Minecraft multiplayer games even after enabling privacy settings...

I'm trying to play a LAN game with my child. I've tried both direct connect to a local server AND joining via LAN play.

In Minecraft for Windows 10, When I try to go to Play -> Servers in-game on my child's account, I was getting an error which said the account was restricted and to see https://help.minecraft.net/hc/en-us/articles/360042221252-I-m-Getting-an-Error-When-Trying-to-Play-Realms-with-a-Child-Account
    for more info.

I went there on my parental account, selected my child's account and enabled everything (and more) that it said I needed to do. I submitted.

When I try again, still same outcome. Tried rebooting my child's computer and relaunching Minecraft. Exact same error as before despite me enabling the settings as directed. I'm not sure what else I can do to make this work. Help.

    :)

How do I play on servers and with friends on Minecraft?

"You cannot play online multiplayer because of how your Microsoft account is set up. Review and change your privacy settings at aka.ms/accountsettings."

This was breaking me. But with hours of searching and trying different things this was the key:

To join a Realm in the first place, the xbox setting You can create and join Clubs must be set to Allow.

So even though I had allowed my child to join multiplayer games, they still could not join my Realm.

You can adjust Join Clubs on the Xbox One console or in a browser.

    Xbox One Console:

Login as the parent/adult in the family

    Account > Family Settings

    Choose child's profile

    Privacy & online safety

    Xbox Live privacy

    View details & customise

    Friends & clubs

You can create and join clubs: ALLOW

    Communication & multiplayer

You can join multiplayer games: Allow

You can play with people outside of Xbox Live: Allow

    In a Browser:

    https://account.xbox.com/Profile & sign in

    Privacy Settings

Choose the Child Account you wish to amend

Choose Xbox One/Windows 10 Online Safety

    Adjust the following:

You can play with people outside of Xbox Live: Allow (not sure if this is needed, but as Minecraft is cross-platform I adjusted this)

You can create and join clubs: ALLOW

You can join multiplayer games: Allow

Cannot friend people or join party's on xbox windows 10 app

    Hi,

You will receive an error about privacy settings when joining Xbox Live Parties if your account settings are not set up correctly or you are using a child account. If you are using a child account, you will need a parent account's permission to change the
privacy and online safety settings so you can join Xbox Live Parties and multiplayer games.

To better assist you with your concern, please provide the following information:

    • Are you using a child account? To check, you can log in to this
      link
      with your Microsoft Account.
    • Are you able to play multiplayer games online using the same account?

You can also contact Xbox Chat Support on this
    link
to securely verify your account and check if there is a parent account attached to it.

I am not using a child account and cannot join multiplayer online games.
Thank you for your response. To resolve your concern, please make sure that you enable the settings to allow your profile to play multiplayer games online by following the steps on this

    link
    .

If you need further assistance, feel free to reply to this post anytime.

Enable Multiplayer Minecraft for Child Account

Hello, and thanks for getting in touch. I'm Aileen, and I'm here to provide you with advice as an Independent Advisor. Please be reminded that I cannot access or modify your account because this is a public forum.

I understand this has been frustrating, especially when you've already tried multiple apps and settings. To help you out clearly, here’s the exact, working process to enable multiplayer for your child’s Minecraft account:

Step 1: Go to the Microsoft Family Website

    Visit: https://family.microsoft.com

Sign in with your parent or organizer Microsoft account.

Under "Your Family," select your child's profile

Choose "More options" then "Xbox online settings"

This will open the correct privacy settings page for your child's Xbox account

If that doesn’t work, go directly to: https://account.xbox.com/settings

    Step 2: Enable Multiplayer Permissions

On your child’s Xbox privacy settings, set the following:

"You can join multiplayer games" – Allow

"You can join cross-network play" – Allow

"Others can communicate with voice, text, or invites" – Set to Friends or Everyone

Then scroll down and hit Save.

    Step 3: Check Content Restrictions

    Go back to: https://account.microsoft.com/family

    Make sure of the following:

The child’s account is in your family group

Content restrictions allow games rated at least 10+

The birthdate on the child’s account is accurate

Please let me know if you need any further assistance. Looking forward to your response.
