Child Account and Headset Chat Issue

2. Check your headset: Make sure your headset is properly connected to your controller and that the volume is turned up.

3. Check your Xbox Live account: If you are signed in to Xbox Live, make sure your account is not set to "child" or "teen" mode, as this may limit certain features.

4. Check your network connection: If your network connection is weak or unstable, this may cause issues with Headset Chat Mixer. Try resetting your router or modem, or connecting your Xbox directly to your modem with an Ethernet cable.

There is the possibility that your account privacy settings have online chat restricted. If you have a child account connected to a parent account, then they will need to change that for you.

is your MS/Xbox account a Child or Adult account?

if it is a Child account, that might be the issue.

if you have an Adult account, sign out then create a new account and see if you are able to use the chat.

if you can then it is a problem with your account,

if you can't post in the chat then it's a network/hardware problem.

I found a workaround. By assigning going to the working child's account, then Setttings : System : Devices & accessories : Headset : and changing 'Assigned to' to the working child's account, the non-working child's account now works. Bizarre. But it fixes
my problem.
