    Chat mixer not working/Greyed out

Hi and thanks for reaching Microsoft Xbox gamer's community. My name is Josef.
I'm an Independent Advisor and a Microsoft Xbox user like you.

Hope you're doing great today despite this Elijah

May I know if you tried using a different headset?
Or using a different controller and connect the headset to that controller instead?

If yes and if the issue persists... This can be a bit odd but can you try connecting the console to a different HDMI port or Screen to see if the issue persists there?

In the meantime, are you using an insider build / beta OS on your console?
And, did you already tried running the audio setup tool?

    Greyed out chat mixers

    Hi Dan!

What steps have you already tried?

Let's try to remove your profile and power cycle your console before adding your account back.

Note: Before doing these steps, please make sure that you know exactly the email address linked with your gamertag and the password to it so you can add the correct account again.

    1. Remove account:
Press the Xbox button to open the guide. Select System > Settings > Account > Remove accounts. Select the account that you want to remove, and then select Remove to confirm. When you're finished, select Close.

    2. Power cycle:
Press and hold the Xbox power button for 10 sec until it turns off. Unplug the power supply for 30 sec. Plug it back in and turn it on again.

    3. Add account:
Press the Xbox button to open the guide. Select your gamerpic in the upper-left corner of the screen, move all the way down and select Add new.

Enter the email address for the Microsoft account that you want to add, and then select Enter.

If that doesn't work, best option is to perform a factory reset. There's an option to keep your games and apps.

Press the Xbox button to open the guide.
Select Profile & system > Settings > System > Console info.
    Select Reset console.
On the Reset your console? Please choose “Reset and keep my games & apps”

    Chat mixer greyed out

Hi, I hope you're doing great out there. I am an Independent advisor and I am here to help you with your concern.

Do you have a different controller that you can try to use, Ruger? This is to check if the issue is with the controller.

If there is none, please unplug the headset, perform a powercycle on your console, and plug in the headset slowly and carefully.

    Chat mixer greyed out

    Hi Joel,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Xbox Community. I'm sorry to hear that you're having issues with your Xbox audio. What audio hardware are you using? When your Xbox chat mixer is grayed out, it typically indicates that your headset isn't being recognized as the main audio output by your console. If you're using a wired headset, try unplugging and re-plugging them while in the audio settings and see if it will enable.

Go to Settings > Devices & connections > Controllers & headsets.

Select your headset and check if it's recognized as the primary audio output.

In addition, kindly make sure that you have the latest firmware updates installed:

Connect the controller directly to your console or Windows device using a USB-C cable (or USB to micro-USB cable for Xbox One controllers).

If the controller works properly with a cable connection, continue to the next step.

On an Xbox console, press the Xbox button to open the guide and then select Profile & system > Settings > Devices & connections > Controllers & headsets. Select “…” under the controller that you're troubleshooting to check the firmware status.

Please note that this is a public forum, I will be responding you in short period of time and regret for a delay in response. As I am merely a fellow user trying to provide insight and information that may be helpful to others

    Regards,

    Alvaro
