Charged for xbox gold game after getting xbox gold

The other day I got the 1 month of xbox live gold for $1 promo and wanted to get the free games before they rolled over to the new ones. I got the xbox live gold and within about 10 mins I (think) i got the Battlefield 1 and went to get Assassin's Creed
(via the web site), the first time I clicked on to get it, the confirmation dialog appeared briefly and went away, so clicked on it again (since it didn't say I owned it yet) and this time the confirmation dialog showed the payment method (PayPal) and showed
the amount of "Free" so I clicked confirm on the dialog and it then said I owned the game. I then received a confirmation email from Microsoft saying it charged me the $7.99 + tax for the game. I was surprised considering the confirmation said free (wish
I would have gotten a screen shot of that first). I requested a refund almost immediately and received the following response "We reviewed your request for order xxxxxxxx on mm/dd/2018 and found it’s not eligible for a refund based on Microsoft Policies."
I have responded twice asking for further explanation on what they mean and tried to explain both times what happened. So far this is their only response. I explained I want to keep the game and only want a refund because it should have been free. I responded
again tonight but expect the same response. Does anyone have any advice or way that they know of to get a refund for it. We are not talking a lot of money but it is annoying that they won't even look at my order to see that I had gold at the time. Had the
confirmation dialog said it was going to charge me I would have never continued it either. I was thinking about contacting PayPal to see if I can dispute the charges, but would only do that as a last resort. Any ideas would be appreciated.

I got charged yet didn't get my gold membership?

It charges you for the previous month of Xbox LIVE Gold. It doesn't bill you in advance, it bills you in arrears, so you get charged AFTER you play for a month.

 

Games with Gold charging full price

I’ve noticed that the last 2 months that the Xbox one games for gold show and charge full price and not the reduce or free price. Xbox 360 games are showing as free and I don’t get charged.

It’s strange as my Xbox gold subscription is valid and hasn’t lapsed.

Anyone able to help.

 

You would have to request a refund again and to have someone from microsoft call you about it. It seem simple enough , but i would try to get a supervisor to look at it as well

For money related topics you need to contact support here in the forums ther eis nothing we can do about it...

 

best to just request a refund or contact support directly.

 

Tried to request another refund and got no where. They just gave the same exact response and won't give any more details. I highly doubt they even look into the problem and see that you want a refund for a game and we don't do that so too bad. Anyone
have any ideas what else I can do? Is there a way to call them directly?

I don't see a way chat with support or request a cake back anywhere on that page.

 

When it offers you the virtual assistant say no, thank, then it should give you other support options. If you don't see those options, choose a different topic.
