Changing Xbox Email and Real name

I'm trying to change my email address for my Xbox account and Xbox account only. I've added an alias email address but I want to use the alias only for my Xbox account, not for Skype or any other Microsoft apps and that's the only option I'm seeing, is to either make the alias address the Primary but then I'd have to use that one for Skype and everything else. Would I be better off creating an entirely new account to change the email address, let alone the real name for my Xbox account. (I need to change the real name displayed as well.)

You can't change the Primary email address on an Xbox/Microsoft account...you can just add secondary emails. AT least that's how I understand it. However, you can use a secondary email to sign in which, presumably, would then show that email in any correspondence etc. This page may help:

As to the name: If you log into your Microsoft account via a browser. At the "Home" page, click on your name as it appears in the top left...that should bring up a "Your Info" page...in the first box, you will see "Full name.....xxx"...click on that area (when the mouse hovers over it it will change to a darker grey) and it should bring up a box allowing you to change your name

Just so you know I use a hotmail account for xbox and when il changed my real name to moe leicester for a laugh i didnt realise that it ammended my hotmail real name and all my emails to family and work were signed as email from moe leicester .......be warned
it doesnt just change it on xbox it changes your email too is a bit of a LOL but its caused some severe embarressment

Hi, I hope you're doing great out there despite the issue that you're experiencing. I am an Independent advisor and I am here to help you in regards to your concern.

The changes should reflect immediately. Kindly remove and re-add your account.

REMOVE ACCOUNT

1. Press the Xbox button to open the guide.

2. Select System > Settings > Account > Remove accounts.

3. Select the account that you want to remove, and then select Remove to confirm.

4. When you're finished, select Close.

POWERCYCLE CONSOLE

1. Turn off your console by holding the Xbox button on the front of the console for approximately 10 seconds. The console will turn off.

2. Turn your console back on by pressing the Xbox button on the console or the Xbox button on your controller.

ADD ACCOUNT

1. Press the Xbox button to open the guide.

2. Select your gamerpic in the upper-left corner of the screen, move all the way down and select Add new.

3. Enter the Email address and the password.

4. Read the Microsoft Service Agreement and Privacy Statement, and then select I Accept.

5. Follow the steps to configure your Sign-In & Security preferences to add your Microsoft account to your Xbox console.
